My cousin's husband expecting to be on breakfast TV around 7am today talking about what he did when his dad was the victim of postal scams.

I would have liked to have seen that as FIL has had some problems with Delice Gourmandises. He has purchased cakes and biscuits with the expectation of winning a huge money prize and receiving recorded phone messages encouraging him to send the red envelope with his order as the cheque is ready to be sent off to him.
The goods are vastly over priced and can be bought Aldi/Lidl at a fraction of the cost.
We think by the amount of goods in his cupboard he has paid out £100's of pounds. angry

My mother was harassed for £2,000 to be paid to a company to release £75,000 prize money. I witnessed her speaking to them on her phone and got the truth out of her. She was scared but had written out a cheque ready to post. They had apparently been ringing her several times a day for 2 weeks. I got advice from local police who put me in touch with Fraud people who took details and would follow it up. I would hear no more but they were very efficient.

It must be so scary living on ones own and being victims of these scams.

I don't think he was on in the end. Too much other news. His dad was scammed (the cakes and biscuits etc sounds familiar) to the tune of thousands in small amounts. They could not stop it, as the companies were abroad, and they also sold on details of victims to other companies. What Chris did in the end was to redirect all his parents mail so he could screen it. (he managed to get his fathers permission, which was not easy) . I saw the mail - there was a huge pile of it after a few months.
The companies then started phoning his dad, so he got them a Truecall call blocker which stopped the calls getting through. I think he also took charge of the bank account to make sure nothing was being taken out. His dad was getting very frail and a bit confused and his mother was at her wits end.
The call blockers are great - I got one for MIL who was getting several cold calls a day, each of which stressed her.
