'Every Little Helps' ???

Three months ago I received my Tesco statement with money off vouchers - I usually get 'money off' coupons - only for small amounts, but I used them (seems a good idea if I'm buying the product anyway). I emailed Tesco asking why I hadn't been sent coupons and was informed that not everyone is sent them every quarter, which was news to me, as I'd been getting and using them regularly for many years, and everyone I know who uses Tesco was sent both vouchers and coupons.

Today I received the new quarterly vouchers, and yet again no coupons.

Is anyone else having coupons withheld?

ninathenana Mon 02-Nov-15 11:37:55

I'd never noticed to be honest.
Thinking about it I didn't get coupons last time.

Tegan Mon 02-Nov-15 12:40:39

Alas, you're probably being too good and reliable a customer; if you don't shop with them for a while maybe the vouchers will return [loyalty doesn't count for much these days]. I seem to be the same with John Lewis vouchers..hit and miss as to whether I get a 'free coffee and cake' one.

Auntieflo Mon 02-Nov-15 12:45:24

Not Tesco coupons and vouchers, but the John Lewis coffee and cake ones that I am missing. DH, who receives his vouchers, doesn't shop in Waitrose, or use his My Waitrose card, except for a free coffee. I couldn't understand why, after I used to get them regularly, that they no longer appear for me. So I emailed John Lewis, and received the answer that "they are sent out to a limited amount of customers who are selected at random." hmm. Not good JL, must try harder.

Tegan, X post here, glad I'm not the only one they randomly do not choose

No coupons for me this time or last two times.yesterday DHspent ten pounds and got five pound off forty next time. I spent sixty and got nothing. I guess they give them to people who are not likely to use them. Good old Tesco!

I avoid the points like poison.

DunHumby the clever folk that thought up this scam, Tesco make money and so do DH as they can sell on all your info to increase their coffers.

Sorry to be cynical, but all the information you disclose is swishing around for scamsters to get hold of.

We rarely answer the phone now unless the caller uses a recognised to them and us ringing mode.

Email for us is the way to go , unless you live in Kintyre, poor SOOP

Even mobs get attacks of invasion.

Luckily I have a Tesco nearby and I reckon I can save money on the'bargain' area

I've just ordered a coffee machine from Tesco direct reduced to £39.00 from £99.00 and I was given the option to deduct my points, which are held online but which had built up over this last 18 months.

Result the Krups DeGusta cost me £4.....can't be bad! grin plus free pick up from my local store tonight.

For the life of me I can't fathom how Tesco is so successful - always seems so 'low-rent' grin

Even if it were the nearest supermarket I wouldn't go there.

ninathenana Mon 02-Nov-15 14:30:48

If Tesco is "low rent" does that mean Aldi is "in a cardboard box" grin
jollyg I'm not bothered about my shopping preferences being 'out there' what benefit are they to anyone except me for the discounts I receive confused

Riverwalk Mon 02-Nov-15 14:46:00

Don't know about Aldi - don't think they have any stores in London.

annsixty Mon 02-Nov-15 14:58:49

I was very snobbish for years about Aldi. It took me one visit 18 months ago to realise my foolishness. My neighbour still wont use them as (a) they don't deliver and (b) they "are so downmarket".No points to collect so no letters through the door urging you to spend more, no lists to be on, good reliable quality, win win every time.

Riverwalk Mon 02-Nov-15 15:03:01

I do like LIDL and go there occasionally.

boheminan Mon 02-Nov-15 15:09:59

Where I live there are no supermarkets in the central shopping centre, and a Waitrose, which I find very expensive, I'm on a very low income and Tesco on the outskirts of town.
I don't have a car and have to carry all my shopping in bike panniers - it's not fun. My nearest store is Tesco. I'd love to have a Lidl or Aldi near me (I've never been to either) Tesco is my nearest store, so I have no choice but to go there, like it or lump it...

ninathenana Mon 02-Nov-15 15:10:27

There are a dozen or so Aldi stores in central London.

boheminan Mon 02-Nov-15 15:13:26

...hmm I should have checked the last post before sending - but I think you'll get the gist of what I'm saying grin

ninathenana Mon 02-Nov-15 15:13:54

Aldi constantly beat the main supermarkets in taste and price surveys.

boheminan Mon 02-Nov-15 15:18:12

There's an Aldi and Lidl in the nearest big shop town from me - about 8 miles away - too far to hump shopping back on the bus (the nearest bus stop from my home is a 15min walk). Word has it that the town I live in cannot have another supermarket here as any other business that applies to come is blocked by Waitrose!

Anya Mon 02-Nov-15 16:07:00

Depends where you live River some Tesco stores are dire, others are very different and good to shop in.

Lona Mon 02-Nov-15 16:16:11

boheminan you could maybe use a shopping trolley and the 15 minute walk wouldn't be so bad then.

boheminan Mon 02-Nov-15 16:29:28

Lona it's a 40min round bus journey to my nearest Aldi. The stop I have to get on/off the bus to get there is a 15min walk from my home, so a trolly wouldn't help smile

Riverwalk Mon 02-Nov-15 16:49:34

If there are Aldi stores in central London then they must be keeping a low profile.

I would like to shop there as keep reading good things about them - just never come across a store.

lefthanded Mon 02-Nov-15 17:42:22

I lived in Southern Germany for almost two years where both Aldi and Lidl are mainstream food shops, and as soon as they started appearing in the UK they became our supermarkets of choice. Their recent rate of expansion here shows that they must be doing something right!

ninathenana Mon 02-Nov-15 17:56:04

Sorry, my mistake despite the fact there are several Aldi's in London. There are none in central London. The closest I think would be Kilburn.

ninathenana Mon 02-Nov-15 18:01:14

Our small town has Tesco, Aldi and an out of town Morrisons which is a five minute drive and on a bus route. They all seem to do well.
There's also a smallish co-op.
