Hi I was wondering if anyone else had received it yet. I usually get mine every year on the 5th November. Not had it yet this year. It is linked to my husbands ESA. Anyone else ? xx

If it is not sent soon, winter will be over.

I cannot understand why they do not send the £10 Christmas bonus at the same time. Silly me, that would be saving money.

I have just realised after reading this that we also have not had a letter informing us that it will be paid after a certain date. We have always had one in previous years.

I received a letter this week informing me they hope to have payments in accounts by Christmas

Granny23 Sat 21-Nov-15 11:18:45

Got mine yesterday - DH did not get his and the post has been this morning. I do wish he would shut up about it, I have enough on my plate without chasing up a payment which will surely come of its on accord next week.

ninathenana Sat 21-Nov-15 11:09:58

Mum always gave me her £10 bonus to buy the turkey as she always spent Christmas with us. DH's goes un noticed.

ninathenana Sat 21-Nov-15 11:04:50

Has it turned up yet?

It would be more useful if the amount was at least increased in line with inflation since it's institution so that it actually helps with the winter fuel costs. It seems more of a sop to the politicians' conscience at the rate it is at present. hmm

Falconbird how about ten Terrys Chocolate Oranges?

rosesarered Wed 11-Nov-15 14:45:54

Yes, joggingirl well spotted! ( when I am old I Shall wear purple, and a red hat that doesn't go!etc.)

The Christmas Bonus was £10.00 decades ago when my mother was my age.

It was a very useful sum of money then - now - not much you can buy with a tenner. What will you buy with yours?

Thanks for the reminder that WFA is actually part of the State Pension Absent.
People seem to forget that, when they call for it to be scrapped or paid only to people on a low income.
I'm not surprised at your resentment at your pension being frozen. It's hard to see any logic or rationale for that.

jogginggirl grin...

mine will (if I ever get it) pay vets bills ( we are in excess period for two conditions and medications need to be bought) and resident teenage needs new mattress christmas presents/food,and two part worn tyres for the car as we not really legal...see I am spoilt for choicegrin

TriciaF The winter fuel allowance was introduced as a way of increasing the state pension without tipping some pensioners into paying tax. (Ditto the £10 Christmas present.) Of course, inflation over the years has ensured that's not relevant now. I rather resent not receiving the winter fuel allowance, to which I was entitled before I left the UK, now that I live abroad. I also resent my full state pension, to which I was entitled before I left the UK, being frozen at its value in the year when I left.

Ana Tue 10-Nov-15 18:25:27

Yes it's a separate payment and not taxable.

boheminan Tue 10-Nov-15 18:24:26
