I check the AIM index in Wednesday's 'news'?paper to see what companies look interesting.
Done ok with some pharma, mining and building companies but only lost money on one...trafficmaster bought aeons ago, actually, my fault for taking my eye off the ball.
I don't like other people playing with my money so the investments, good or bad, are my own choices.
I also still have a few paper shares which couldn't be held in a portfolio. Hilton Hotels and the National Grid are two.

If you find Hargreave Lansdown charges too high, try Interactive Investor instead, we switched to them when HL put up their charges and have had good service from them.

There are also strategies to use such as limiting withdrawals to 3 or 4%, so you don’t take too much out in the good times and end up with too little when the market drops. It averages out if you look at it long term. Is still working it is worth saving more when market is down as you’ll get more shares for your money.
