Not all companies provide this and you may still be able to get a better deal elsewhere but I thought it was worth flagging this up.

There is an article on the Money Saving Expert Site

If anyone knows more about these and has used them or sorted them out for a relative it would interesting to hear how they found it.

DaisyAnne I have gone on to the BT Home Essentials tariff after reading & watching Martin Lewis's programme a month ago.
It is so easy to set up and even if you are part way through a contract it is changed over with no cost for not completing the original contract,I have my landline/BB/free calls for £20 per month a saving from my previous contract with them of £34+
Its well worth looking at if you are trying to reduce your household bills.

Wow!! Found this difficult to believe. A company actually helping out in these times.

Spoke to charming young lady and very helpful young man, and have had my BT monthly bill cut by half by transferring over to this new Home Essentials Package. Thank you so very much DaisyAnne

Brilliant. I love it when a plan comes together grin We just need to keep spreading the word.

Just to confirm how easy it was to make this change. I telephoned BT, got through almost straight away - ensure that you get a real person to speak to. Told them I was with BT with a contract that had more than a year to run. Asked about the Essentials Package, explaining that I was on Pension Credit.

Young lady went through the details,, checked my existing account, and confirmed it would be much cheaper on Home Essentials. When I said I wished to continue with this, she transferred me (took less than two minutes), to another department where they took my NIH No. and checked that I was actually in receipt of PC. And then it all went ahead to make the new arrangements.

My bill - at present just over £31 each month - will drop to £15 per month for my BB and Land Line, still with free calls, etc. They have also confirmed that if I transfer my mobile phone over to the (EE) that will cost me slightly less than I am paying at present with O2.

Both were extremely charming and totally helpful. Took me about 15 minutes to do this. One of the best 15 minutes I have spent.

JUst to add, they also confirmed that this change to Home Essentials would NOT involve any fine for breaking my existing contract early.
