Thought I would have a quick look to see the date of expiry on them/. We use them for id as we haven’t been abroad for quite awhile. Last time was about December /January time when renewing a bond at the building society. Now I am really careful about passports and would have put them back in drawer in the same place. Also I would have been placed them back in my handbag as soon as they were seen. Have had everything out, drawers, handbags looked everywhere. I found an envelope with a receipt for mine which shows the number and date of issue. However, my dh’s envelope probably contains the two missing passports! I looked in the phone bookas I write most things down and there were old passport numbers but not the new ones. This has never happened before. Will I be able to cancel dh’s passport without the number. I remember they were issued from two different offices so I hope the issue date will be the same as on my receipt. Just asking as my head is aching and I know I am supposed to report list passports as soon as possible.

Haven't posted but have been following your sad story , I have prayed to St . Antony on your behalf. I am not religious but it does seem to work more often than not for me. I say " please St.Antony help me find my ......... When I do find the missing item I always thank him. Obviously he was not on top form re. Passports!
Now you have the stress of getting new ones , I do feel for you and understand the stress it has all caused. I sincerely hope the process is sorted soon in the meantime have another G&T! and try to relax. Good luck and keep us posted.

I still keep coming back to see if you’ve found them yet! What a hassle for you being charged twice etc. And they call all this online stuff progress. Just to say also that I lost my debit card, turned the place upside down, cancelled and got a new one. A few months later when I went to put in my winter coat, there was the old one in the pocket. I remembered then that I’d been out with my son and had just hastily shoved it into my pocket to rush off to do something else. hmm

Thank you Moth62 and everyone else. So pleased you found your debit card. That must have been a real worry. I have now filled in a complaints form and had an acknowledgement with a request to fill more or less the same info but I’ve done it. I’ve been told it will be passed to the right department. I am going to have to apply again for dh’s so hope it goes right this time. Just hope the blue submit button works.

Stressful situation. It is imperative to report lost passports as soon as possible. Even without a passport number, you can contact the passport issuing authorities and explain the situation. They may ask for other identifying information such as name, date of birth and passport issuance location to help you cancel your passport and avoid potential problems.

I have photos of the relevant pages of our passports, the children sent me pics of theirs too, just in case, all on the iPhone, or in a cloud somewhere!

I needed a hanky the other day and couldn’t be bothered to stand up (sore hip). I know that sometimes they go down the side of the sofa so I put my hand down there. Out came an embarrassing amount of fluff, a card holder full of cards that I don’t use much so hadn’t missed and various other things. I must check the rest of the sofa and chairs.
