I know you can pick up bread at 35p from Morrisons sometimes. Aldi is now a favourite. Lovely bottle of red wine for £3.99.

It depends on what you mean by 'reflected in the prices'. Falling inflation doesn't mean falling prices, just that they are not increasing as quickly as they were.

At thanks to the triple lock, the pension will have a better increase than anything tied to inflation such as work place pensions.

Inflation falling will not reduce prices they just rise more slowly. I think inflation has fallen in part due to a reduction in petrol prices which always has a major effect. One thing I have noticed is a big increase in the price of Christmas cards and sweets since last year, somes cards are £1-£1.50 more expensive and specially packaged sweets are ridiculous, tiny amounts of chocolate in a fancy package costing £3-£4 pounds. Buying the little Christmas extras is really stretching my budget.

I buy a protein drink from Tesco,for a few months. It was £1. I went down a couple of weeks ago and it had gone up to £1.15. Not a 5p not a 10 p. but straight in at 15p and their attitude, you don’t have to buy it take it or leave it…😤

Not only do prices go up but the size of the product is reduced in many cases.
Shrinkflation.

Butter, for instance, has gone up in price but the package is now 200g not 250g.

I do hope the farmers are receiving part of the increase in prices.

May be good news for those with a mortgage but doubt the prices in the shops will go down any time soon.

What frustrates me is that manufacturers and producers claim that they are not the ones making a profit, then the wholesalers claim that they are not the ones making a profit followed by the retailers wringing their hands and claiming they are not the ones making a profit.

Well someone is! But, as usual, it's Muggins the Customer who pays through the nose. And being told "shop around" is a laugh because I suspect there is a cartel at work.

Really- don’t know how they work that out- every time I shop the prices have increased- need a second mortgage to buy tin tomatoes 😩 luckily I can knock a pan a soup up from scraps, but a lot of young mums can’t cook, or won’t bother

I don’t think you can have read why inflation is down mael? It’s due to reduced prices for oil and gas. The underlying food inflation is still rising, albeit much more slowly.

I believe it’s this months inflation figures that they use to decide the pension increase for next year

Inflation may be lower but the cost of everything is still much higher than it ever was.
My car insurance has doubled, energy costs through the roof…council tax raised, food more expensive. Even Poundland have increased my favourite sweet treat to £1.50, which is a 50% increase.

Interesting Lindy, if true a nice drop now which means less for us and up it goes again afterwards.

Hopefully if the triple lock still applies the state pension should rise above the inflation figure. We will just have to wait and see

I wish I could buy a bottle of wine for £3.99. In Scotland we pay more as, in an effort to reduce excessive drinking, the unit price of alcohol is higher. So those who enjoy the occasional glass are penalised. In general most items in my shopping basket cost more than they did a few months ago and te big bills like house and car insurance, energy bills, etc are much higher.

Yes, Food prices are said to actually be rising. One factor in the lower inflation is that the cost of fuel fell up to September.. Just wait on it zooming back up again now!

It’s good to hear that inflation is lower but Food Price inflation is around 4% still, judging by food costs in other countries which are much higher I don’t see that changing.
The one major cost that needs to fall is housing costs it’s much too high.
