hello, are there any other local GNs out there?

annegr Mon 02-Sept-13 08:27:42

Good morning, Beautiful day but a bit windy. I'm going to walk to the Beacon so will set off about 10.15.
I enjoyed the craft fair very much, so much effort went into all of it. I hope it was a financial success for those concerned. I'm pleased that I found some very appropriate presents, better than just a gift token.
See you later today.

Fabulous morning! I loved the visit to the glass workshop and am quite excited by next week's venture into arts and crafts.
If we do decide to go to cinema, R will be at home for 2/3 wks before she goes to NZ.Is it OK if I ask her? Maybe there won't be anything on of interest but we can wait till it's worth the visit.
The bus did not come at lunchtime for me to come home so after 3/4 hr. I walked round to Morrisons and had lunch there. That was the 81- makes you wonder what holds them up. Doesn't matter to me but if someone has an appointment it's awful.

matson Mon 02-Sept-13 17:00:46

Hi annegr, no problem about R coming with us, where ever we end up!
The 81 tends to disappear into that black hole near the bus station quite frequently!I.m eagerly awaiting your masterpiece, I,m sure you will enjoy it. take care. Sorry my other email was a bit of a jumble, technology, pain in the * .

Good morning. Just done a bit more of my on-line learning course and have already forgotten what ctri+click does. I will have to recap next time I go to the site.
Unless the adverse weather brings R back from caravan, I might have got it wrong and she probably won't be back until mid next week.Too late for Mon/Tues.
Do you think Guisborough might be OK ? We could have a look round the big book shop there and a rummage in the charity shops for books. There are also several food options. What do you think? It's still the 81, no avoiding that pitfall.
I'm having a home day today.Washed all the bedding for starters then when the grass dries, it's gardening time. Edging lawns and hoeing borders. I think today is the last sunny day for this week so it's literally "make hay whilst the sun shines."
Eldest son starts new job today-college for the blind in the Admin. He's worked there before on contract & likes the staff but this is a perm.F/T post. He's still my baby (at 51) Nothing ever alters that, does it? We worry over them right to the end.

annegr Thu 05-Sept-13 08:55:45

Why can't summer go on a lot longer? The forecast for tomorrow sounds awful.
My shopping turned up yesterday from Tesco. All nicely packed and expiry dates a long time ahead. However, in the course of the evening, I had a nasty shock and found a big, big spider in the kitchen sink. Maybe came in with the carrier bags? All spiders to me are big.big, by the way. Shopping for food on line is OK for the older person but it is quite technical and not to be under-estimated.

matson Fri 06-Sept-13 19:36:23

Hi annegr maybe the spider heard the weather forecast and came in for sheltergrin it has been a dreadful day, I don't mind spiders, its flies I dislike!
I salute you with your on line shopping, you are braver than me.

annegr Sun 08-Sept-13 10:03:56

Hello, My shopping came with a note on the order that there was a box to tick on-line if I would accept substitutes if nec. It gets more complicated and sites keep changing/updating.
If you read the local paper, there were a lot of floods at Saltburn and Gbro. I'm pleased I didn't move to Stump Cross, G/bro. I frequently see them in the news. I would have expected here to have a problem, low-lying and near the sea, but touch wood, I have never seen drainage problems.
I'm going to walk to the seafront this morning(Sun) and do some meditation on one of the seats! What better place. I have begun reading The Monk again. It's a bit like a bible of sorts.
Just rung my dgt-in-law in H/gate - it's her birthday. She said that Steven enjoyed his first week at new job and felt to be back with former friends. They are off to a stately home and garden today.I hope it isn't waterlogged.

matson Mon 09-Sept-13 16:46:53

Hi annegr, I hope you enjoyed your seafront walk, at least the weather has improved, my sister had problems at Lazenby with the flooding!
Should the weather turn again and I,m unsure what you want to do , I will phone you, but the forecast doesn't look to bad. As arranged I will be [hopefully] on the 10.12 , so see you then.

annegr Tue 10-Sept-13 07:45:50

Good morning. R is back and too tired to join us today. I will go for a cup of tea later on this week with her.
I had some Yorkshire jokes sent to me from Scarbro. Because I don't know how to forward them on to you, I've sent them to 'trash' but they were very funny dialect things. I can get them out again later because I may just have instructions from eldest son in a folder. It's too early in the morning for anything so intellectual.
Watched some good programmes last night (for a change) about discovered ancient civilisations and the city under the sea. I love things like that.
The weather is fine today, watched forecast, so will put fleece on (not bikini) and go for the bus.
Did you see my comment in the paper last night? It was nice of the editor to put someone's photo of Tuned-In! next to my letter.Appropriate.

annegr Mon 21-Oct-13 07:59:55

Good morning Jenny. Nice to hear from you. Matson and myself now have been meeting in person and havn't written on the site for a while. It was Matson who alerted me to your welcome message.
One of our favourite coffee venues is The Beacon (pier) on the seafront. We will be meeting sometime this week but not fixed yet because of Matson's redecorating and my Xmas cake making. Don't get the wrong idea! You are not speaking to Wonder Women.
I will send you a message via this site later on and once again, nice to hear from you. Love the bit about dogs.

annegr Tue 22-Oct-13 07:57:14

Good morning Readers. Another day in the life of a grandma! The excitement is unbearable!
Am off to Morrisons to have coffee with sister in law and discuss our grown up children's goings-on. After all that, I must remember to get more stuff for another Xmas cake as I have decided to make one for eldest son and wife as a house warming present (moving next month) They have moved so many times that all their belongings are now trained to jump into boxes.

Hi! Just been looking at this old thread and wondering if there's still anybody local out there. I've been enjoying the main site for a while now, but it would be lovely to chat to somebody loca who knows the same places as I do. Fingers crossed.

Meagen Fri 06-Nov-15 09:55:55

Sorry, that was meant to say local!

annegr Sat 07-Nov-15 09:09:42

Hello, Meagan. Sorry not to have been keeping my eye on this site but my friend, Matson, has e-mailed me to have a look. So before I start my project of the day (dusting) I shall send you a word or two.
I am not a technical boffin by any means and even before I start, I see that to post this message, I now need to press ctrl-enter. Can find the first bit but where is enter?
Went to see James Bond this week at Redcar cinema. Super - I was exhausted.
I have 1 grandson aged 9 - I totally adore him and he knows it.
If this message gets through to you by some technical fluke, then I would love to hear from you again.
Bye for now.

Meagen Sat 07-Nov-15 10:10:30

Hello annegr. Lovely to get a response from a local. I live in Guisborough. I have 6 grandchildren, youngest 18, and first great grandchild expected in March. It's a filthy morning here. Intended to go to Redcar for a bit of shopping, but won't bother unless weather picks up a bit.
