We had a beautiful hot, sunny morning here in Boston, but it clouded over and went a bit cooler at lunchtime, but no rain..............yet!

Norfolk bright and sunny until about 7.30 then the sky opened am freezing...

Nonu Fri 13-Jul-12 18:18:51

Live in Suffolk now , one question , do you think where you live influences your outlook on things , I do my outlook has changed , they are not so chatty as in Essex or Birmingham so sometimes it can be a bit hard going

nelliedeane Fri 13-Jul-12 18:52:25

Hi Nonuhave lived in Norfolk for 41/2 years, and definitely found my outlook is different, but maybe not in a bad way.
I am an Essex girl and we where warned that we would find it difficult to integrate and be accepted.we haven't really experienced any real problem..the biggest cold shouldering Came from the other incomers into the village, who having retired came in and took over and upset the older staid locals,by changing things to suit themselves and driving at speed in quiet lanes.
Have found that the sense of humour and outlook is dour and very canny with any deals involving money, and that the attitude is quite aggressive....but we love it here and I find people anywhere on the whole will respond to a smile and a friendly comment.....and I just love the different accents from different parts of the region sunshine

Nonu Sat 14-Jul-12 11:41:01

Nealliedean I am with you on the accents , not only where you actually live but ALL accents I think they are great , I was originally from Birmingham many many moons ago , but still find people pick up on my accent , which is great I think , even though it has obviously softened over the years . smile

Hi matson I'm in Darlington – a short distance from Redcar. Mr absent and I are intending to visit Redcar when we get some warmer weather. He remembers it from childhood, but I've never been there. We did go through it on the train recently when we went to Saltburn.

I'm in Hollywood, Worcestershire, UK, born in Birmingham but half of me is Norfolk as my Dad was from Great Yarmouth. Love Norfolk, Devon, Cornwall and Cumbria, amongst many others.

Gally Mon 30-Jul-12 22:11:04

Just been trawling through this thread, started in May 11 ~ There are a lot of GN's who have disappeared over that time. I wonder what happened to them all ~ are they still lurking? grin

gracesmum Mon 30-Jul-12 22:49:56

I have just done it too to see if I could find any Grannies who might live within travelling distance of Birmingham and some names have just disappeared.

Hellooooooooooooooooooooo!! Anybody there??grin

Anagram Mon 30-Jul-12 22:57:09

It does seem to happen on all sorts of sites that people join, post a few times then decide it's not for them after all. When you see the names of members who win some of the competitions you realise there are those who never actually post on the forums at all!

Gally Tue 31-Jul-12 01:03:21

Anagram shock wink

harrigran Tue 31-Jul-12 10:13:26

I have noticed that Anagram and also when there are questions for live discussions new names appear, assume they must be lurkers.
