RINKY et al .I so agree about the beauties of Northumberland .We lived in Morpeth .First DD born there in 1959.
Last time I visited Bamburgh they were filming 'Beckett' Richard Burton and Liz Taylor were in the vicinity! I believe it was portrayed as the French coastline.

Just found GN site and am testing the waters.
Not sure if you are still participating, but was really surprised to see where you have previously lived.
We lived in south Harrow and know Wealdstone, Bushey, Watford, Berko, etc. very well. Daughter lives in St. Albans and we now live in Northamptonshire!!

Londoner and proud of it.

Best city in the country in my view. That saying "when you're tired of London you're tired of life" couldn't be truer.

The shard, O2, gherkin, St Pauls, Houses of Parliment, Buck House, museums for free, huge parks, shows galore, dinning ditto, street markets, the city, the West End.

Good bits, bad bits it's all there.

Hi I live just outside of Cardiff near an RAF base at St Athan. The back of beyond, lost my hubby last year and I dont drive, buses nearly non existent. At 70 I still walk for miles, case of having to.sad

I can almost see you across the Bristol Channel, but alas to far. I'm in Portishead.

Greatnan Thu 21-Feb-13 20:28:32

Good job we are all different - I lived and worked in central London for eight years and hated it - the noise, traffic, crowds, buildings......as soon as I retired I moved to remote mountain village in France.

akuaku Sat 23-Feb-13 11:29:01

I am in mid-Cheshire. Is there anyone else?!

I think there are too many grans in Scotland. We need more in the SW!

annodomini Tue 26-Feb-13 20:17:06

akuaku, there are several of us in Cheshire. I'm in NE Cheshire but there are others further south and in the Chester area too. We have meet-ups every so often and I will put you on the list so that I can contact you by pm when one is being planned.

Gorki Thu 21-Mar-13 16:56:35

Just reading back through this thread and would like to ask ottosnan why she said her spiritual home is N.Uist. I visited when doing some family history and fell in love with it and also with Barra where I have connections too. I discovered a distant relative in Benbecula. Truly I thought I had discovered a bit of heaven. Do any other Gransnetters come from the Outer Hebrides?envy

Minder Mon 25-Mar-13 11:34:56

Hi numberplease and kittylester. Thank you for the welcome.

I'm having major problems at the moment, having to dash back and forth to Yorkshire as my Auntie is in hospital but as soon as I get some 'me time' I will join in.

Minder.
