How many years have you and yours been married, or together, whichever applies to you? Today is our 48th wedding anniversary, heaven only knows how we`re still together, you don`t get that long for murder, and I`ve come pretty close to committing that at times!

Belated congratulations numberplease. DH and I have been married 33 years this October, I was just 21 and he was 22. We met when he was here in Devon visiiting his mum (he lived in London) and we had a long distance 'romance' for 6 months until he moved here. We were married 12 months later.

bikergran Sat 16-Jul-11 08:59:33

43 years in total but as his job required him to be awy from home so much it is probably really only 25 when we count the time we have been together.

He's away at the moment for a couple of days, he may be retired but they wanted him to inspect something in Rotterdam and it means a nice cheque in a month or two and, as the adverts say, every little helps.

Congrats numberplease. It will be 40 years for us on the 31st of this month. I reckon I could have committed double murder and so got rid of his mother as well and still been out by now. I'm sure at times sheer bloody mindedness got us through - I was 16 when we married, he was 22 and no one thought it would last. One person who made the most noise and married just a week before us (hubby's sister) has been through four husbands so far. At least my own brother had the grace recently to say he was wrong about objecting.

44 years on August 5th. I was 22, so I've been married twice as long as I was single....

We met at a dance at the Carlton ballroom in Rochdale, he asked me to dance and it was a barn dance, and I trod on his foot. That was at the end of November, we were married the following July, and our eldest daughter was born at the beginning of December!

greenmossgiel Thu 14-Jul-11 20:02:23

sylvia2036 Thu 14-Jul-11 18:03:00

Congratulations numberplease - OH and I met on a blind date, he moved in with me after one week (that was back in 1977), we married in 1978 and I still love him to bits although there are times when I could see him far enough!

absentgrana Thu 14-Jul-11 15:52:12

Congratulations and good wishes numberplease What an impressive and heartening list of long-lived marriages with, as you say, no time off for bad behaviour. I'm on my second marriage and have only achieved 13 years – nearly as long as my first one. As our wedding day was 1 April, it's amazing it's lasted that long!wink

glammanana Thu 14-Jul-11 10:35:16

How wonderful congratulation numberplease and all the other 40+ and 30+. We have been married for 33 years in January and both been married before. I tell everyone I am not his first choice and he declines to comment. We have three children between us but sadly none of our own together but he did give me a golden retreiver once and a toad in a jar (which we liberated in the woods).7 grandchildren. I tell him everyday how lucky he is and he buys me badges for my cooking apron which say things like I am a Wonderful Wife so thats Ok thensmile

numberplease Wed 13-Jul-11 21:21:42

Again, thank you everyone. Oh my, there are quite a few long marriages amongst our little gang, aren`t there? Congratulations to all. Riclorian, was going to say that we`ve got 4 years to go to catch up with you, but you`ll be on 56 years by then, won`t you, God willing, as my mother-in-law used to say.

goldengirl Wed 13-Jul-11 20:46:28

Many congratulations, numberplease wine. We'll have been married 41 years this coming Christmas - some friends said it would never last but here we are! For the past 25 years we've worked together in our company - not easy! But we have separate interests as well.

Thank you everyone, but I`m not sure how I got this into the "Where are you?"section! Must be the old age thing lol! So far I`ve spent the day having my hair coloured ready for son`s wedding on Saturday, then it`s washing, hubby`s spending the day on his PS3 upstairs, isn`t life romantic?
