Mamie - such a pretty area. I used to do many school exchanges with Rouen and a small place in Eure called Routot- and still have many friends in the area.

I'm in Italy, near a town called Cassino. There seem to be a few in France, anybody else in Italy?

Ah granjura, Routot in the land of the "tots". For some reason we always drive past the sign on the autoroute that says "Yvetot et Cany-Barville et le Pont de Bretonne" singing it to the tune of mersydotesanddoazyydotes (if you know that very silly song).

I'm in a little town in Germany, 100km south of Heidelberg.

I'm in the Dordogne region of France, halfway between Bergerac and Sarlat.

When in France I am in Dordogne too - about 15 miles south of Bergerac - we spend about half our time there at the moment and the rest in South Wales. We have the Welsh house for sale at the moment and then will spend most of our time in Dordogne.

Mamie do you like living in Suisse Normande? I think we may move up that way when this big old place gets too much for us. My DH is a sunworshipper though (I'm not) and he keeps saying your weather is like England. Is that right? Also in this area, they close up for the winter pretty much, so its not so easy to find restaurants etc. open when you feel like a night out.

Yes, we love the Suisse Normande. Weather similar to England (South-East), colder in winter and warmer in summer than where we lived on the south coast of England. The autumn and spring are normally sunnier and more settled than England. Winter is very quiet, though restaurants are open; Caen is a good city. It is very handy for the UK (we are about an hour from Ouistreham). Wonderful walking and cycling and good for gardening.

I'm in Haute Savoie, south of Lake Geneva, in the French Alps, but close to the Swiss and Italian borders.
As it is a ski resort, we naturally have plenty of snow in Winter, but somehow with the sun shining and the snow glistening, it is not like snow in towns! Summers are warm and the scenery is stunning.

We are back in UK after nearly 10 yrs in Albir Costa Blanca,wonderful small area on the coast not far from Calpe/Moriaria we have been back here for 3 yrs now and have settled well,but I do miss my Spanish way of life.

I live in a small village in the Lot departement of SW France and have done so for almost twelve years. My French friends tell me that I am integrated - I hope so.

We live in central Brittany, more rain and more sun than the south of England. It is very quiet in winter and here in the centre there are not a lot of restaurents etc but we are not far from the sea and there the restaurants are great. The only things I miss is are the grandchildren and my friends, we have been here 5 years

Hi GrannyinFrance. We have had a small house in central Brittany, near Le Faouet, for 20 years now but I rarely go - my OH seems to be permanently 'doing it up' and uses it as his bolthole while I zoom off to Mexico and New Zealand!

We live in Nièvre departement of Burgundy France in the Movan natural regional park. We have been here eight years. The Morvan is full of villages and not many towns but we are lucky that we are in a little area surrounded by the Cote D'Or and Saone-et-Loire so we have towns where we shop. We have one daughter, her French husband and three grandchildren sharing our house. They live upstairs and we live downstairs. We are so lucky to be able to see them grow up 11yrs, 8yrs and 2yrs. We also have a daughter, son in law and twin grandchildren of 15mths in UK.

We love to go and visit but it is always fantastic to come home.

I am doing a house exchange in October, with a couple who have a gite in Aude, in the Pyrenees, quite close to where I lived for three years when I first emigrated to France. I want to revisit my old haunts and take the opportunity to spend a night or two in Barcelona. They want to come here for the skiing when I am in New Zealand.
I have done several exchanges before and it is a great way to see other parts of the world with just the cost of travel.
