Feeling very envious that Scottish Grannies have got themselves organised.
Are there any grannies within striking distance of a Midlands centre who would like to do the same? I am in Milton Keynes but trains to Brum are frequent and fast. Any takers?

AlisonMA Thu 06-Sept-12 09:05:09

But if I sing you will all go home! sad

grrrranny Thu 13-Sept-12 20:45:17

I'm really upset now because I can't come. I was so looking forward to it, tickets booked, really working on the colour scheme and I think the whole idea is just such fun. But I now have to work and I don't work very often so when it is there, I don't have much choice. Please take lots of photos so I can kind of join in and have a great time so that there will be another meet up and I can try again. I won't throw out my green, purple, white items. No good I am going to go wail! Again. sad envy

So sorry to hear that grrranny. Hope to meet you another time? (PS are you accessible to MK? I had a feeling you might be, if so, how abut heading this way sometime? JessM and Glitabo are near neighbours)

Movedalot Fri 14-Sept-12 10:33:27

grrrranny that is such a shame. If they are all as much fin as they sound I think there may well be a Christmas party wine

grrrranny Fri 14-Sept-12 10:43:32

Thanks Movedalot - as long as no fights break out I think you might be right about a Christmas (or getting over Christmas) do.

gracesmum that is a good idea. I can do MK - bus takes two hours and train I have no idea but driving is only about an hour plus the 'getting lost in MK' time so a mini-meet-up would be lovely. Perhaps sometime after the big bash in Birmingham we could arrange something. Thank you for cheering me up.

glitabo Sun 16-Sept-12 15:21:57

What time trains are you all booking for the return journey? I was thinking about 5sh?

crimson Sun 16-Sept-12 15:43:03

Still definately coming but having tests done on my dog next week; if the results are not good I'm afraid I won't quite be myself so I hope you put up with me sad.

petallus Sun 16-Sept-12 17:14:42

Mine is around 6 but if we finish earlier I'm sure I'll find something to do.

Oldgreymare Mon 17-Sept-12 10:29:28

Same here petallus! Getting excited now! Only 19 sleeps to go!

Nanadogsbody Mon 17-Sept-12 10:30:18

crimson I'm thinking of coming and am a 'dog person'.

Movedalot Mon 17-Sept-12 10:49:21

crimson yes, nothing but support from me and I'm sure all the others too.

gracesmum Mon 17-Sept-12 11:01:44

crimson feeling for you, like many others I am a "dog person" and hate it when I know or suspect there is something wrong. flowersHope you make it.

crimson Mon 17-Sept-12 13:36:59

It's feeling so responsible for them that's the awful part. Whatever happens to our pets we feel guilty. I'm also feeling guilt because having a dog was stopping me from having holidays abroad [I hate them going into kennels] but now I don't care if I never have a holiday away as long as she's ok. And sighthounds are so stoic, aren't they; they don't show how bad they're feeling.

Nanadogsbody Mon 17-Sept-12 13:45:11

That's so true, such brave little animals. sunshine

Movedalot Mon 17-Sept-12 13:56:03

Where do you live crimson? When our neighbours go on holiday we look after their dog and would be happy to do the same for you. She loves it here and one time escaped from their house and came back to us. She just walked in and lay down on the carpet as if she lived her. We no longer have one of our own as out lifestyle would not be fair on a dog.

gracesmum Mon 17-Sept-12 19:40:02

Is she a greyhound or lurcher too, crimson? Our ex-racer goes to kennels but I always feel awful about it and often cry on the way home! She isn't too unhappy there as she spent the first 4 years of her life in a racing kennels and they know her and make a fuss of her, but even so, I would much rather use a dogsitter if I could.

glitabo Tue 25-Sept-12 16:22:28

I have just booked my train ticket.
I am looking forward to meeting you all.
Are there any last minute instructions?
Do we need name stickers?

crimson Tue 25-Sept-12 16:27:26

Crikey; I must get meself organised and sort tickets out! The S.O. is going away the week before with the dog, I'm not putting my name down for any overtime at work that week and I'm going to have a really chilled out week culminating with my trip to Brum. Can't wait!

jeni Tue 25-Sept-12 17:10:20

I'm NOT WEARING A LABEL! You'll just have to guess which one I am!
Actually it's easy, I'm the quiet little demure one sitting on the corner!

JessM Wed 26-Sept-12 07:47:50

I am not worried jeni suspect I would be able to spot you in New St station from 200 yards. Your fame has spread.
Have entrusted purplish jacket to the man who does alterations. Very good alterations but they have a chaos factor ...

jeni Wed 26-Sept-12 11:02:50

Well I've just booked my disabled rail assistance. I'm bringing my luggie so I can get around!
Watch out for the fairy lights! (I did say I was a shy retiring little thing didn't I?)

gracesmum Wed 26-Sept-12 11:53:16

Ooh it's getting closer! Make sure you all bring cameras - this one has to be documented!! (BTW are there pics of the Glasgow and Edinburgh meet-ups?)

crimson Wed 26-Sept-12 12:27:24

Mugshots confused!?!

crimson Wed 26-Sept-12 12:28:00

...I mean of us, not them...!

JessM Wed 26-Sept-12 12:32:03

Just remembered a very interesting purple outfit in the far end of the cupboard... hmm
