Milton Keynes is good for me.

If it's a weekday meet up could it be on a Wednesday [my day off]? Strange thing about Brum and it's people is that you have to move away to appreciate it and them. Going back many years ago after my mum had died I felt envelopped by the warmth and kindness of the Brummie people. We never became 'fashionable' did we. But whenever I come across an ex Brummie they're always the same, warm and friendly but with a very dark sense of humour. I even feel nostalgic about Saltley Gas Works .

Numberplease - whereabouts are you? I am sorry you can't get up to the Edinburgh meet - there are several of us in the north east, perhaps at some time we can have a meeting nearer to you. I hope you manage to get to the Birmingham meet up.

Oh specki - to sit by the canal basin / wander round the Bull Ring/ and listen to that wonderful accent! I am sorry if I am making you homesick! Brummies are so friendly, I was on King's Heath High Street with DD and the boys en route to music session when an old dear stopped me and said "You look smart!" Later on I was trying to hurry with the buggy while carrying a Costa coffee as we were late and another woman offered to walk with me and carry my coffee as I kept spilling it onto Toby's buggy! That doesn't happen in Milton Keynes alas.

Yes ok but I want to come to Brum; I want to sit for hours on the M6; I want to CHOOSE to take the M6Toll; I want to look at the cut in Smethwick and eat faggots and pays; I want to get lost on Spaghetti and zoom round the underpasses on the inner ring road;I want a balti; I want to go up the escalator in Rackhams and drink coffee on the top floor and don't even get me started on the Pallisades! Oh Brum I miss you so.

I could get to Birmingham by train...about 3 hours, so do-able in a day. Count me in.

We could meet at one of the nice restaurants by the canal near Symphony Hall perhaps, but I'll be happy to take advice on that.

AlisonMA and I met up on Thursday and I'm sure we could both get to Brum. She's away from her computer at the moment, but keep us posted! Late Sept sounds good.

I`d dearly love to do one of the two Scottish meets, but the train fares are beyond me, but I could do Birmingham! Latye September or sometime in October would do me fine.

End-ish would be fine for me - I seem to be booked to be gran of the year for the first and third weekends while DD and SIL go gallivanting first to New York and then to a wedding in Oxford.
