Newcastle Meet up

Glass and I were talking the other day about arranging another get-together in the near future in Newcastle upon Tyne (or thereabouts). The weather seems so miserable at the moment (it's snowing heavily here) that it would be a good idea to have something to look forward to.

Add your name if you're interested and suggested dates - I think a month or so on from now would be good.

Number - there is only one station (lots of Metro stations but that's another thing entirely). Find out what dates there are trains towards the end of February and we'll take it from there.

So, so far there is:

GillieB, Glass, Marelli, Gally, Absent, Moomin, Janeainsworth and Gillybob

I have a lovely mental picture of you Absent

The whistle is blowing, the train is about to leave the station, a head pops up from between the seats, " who? what? where am I? "

"Hold the bloody train.... " grin

gillybob Mon 28-Jan-13 11:26:10

Do you have any dates yet Glass? I am very busy at work at the minute shock and will have grandchildren for at least 2 days over the half term week.
So the sooner I can pencil in dates the better.

Really looking forward to it so hope I can go (fingers xxxx)

glassortwo Mon 28-Jan-13 11:29:45

Its gillieB is coordinating the arranging of dates etc.

glassortwo Mon 28-Jan-13 11:30:51

Sorry that should have said its gillieb doing the coordinating grin

gillybob Mon 28-Jan-13 11:44:29

Ooooops trust me Glass ! confused It doesn't take much to confuse me.

GillieB Do you have any dates yet? I am trying to plan work and childcare for the half term week and would hate to miss it.

moomin Mon 28-Jan-13 12:10:35

Same here gillybob, think I may have childcare duties 1/2 term week (Mon 18th -Wed 20th), I'm OK the rest of Feb, but away 1st week in March smile

glassortwo Thu 31-Jan-13 14:15:05

GillieB have we made any provisional date yet?

GillieB Thu 31-Jan-13 15:32:15

Hi, everybody, sorry I've been very busy with grandchildren. I was going to suggest either the 21st or 28th February, but in view of what I have just read, how about the 28th February?

I have two thoughts about where to meet, but am happy to listen to any other suggestions because lots of you are far more au fait with places roundabout. We could either go back to where you met last summer, or I wondered about Fratelli's in Ponteland as most people are coming from all over the area. For the few people who are coming by train, there is a metro to Callerton Parkway and I am happy to collect people from there and take you to the restaurant. Fratelli's is an Italian restaurant and they do two courses for £7.50, or a pasta or pizza for a fiver. Just an idea, as I said - am happy to go with the flow.

moomin Thu 31-Jan-13 15:52:19

I'm OK for the 28th and can meet up anywhere smile

gillybob Thu 31-Jan-13 16:03:14

28th Fine with me too GillieB but I was wondering if somewhere more central to the station might be better as I believe there are people coming in by train and public transport. hmm
