Glass and I were talking the other day about arranging another get-together in the near future in Newcastle upon Tyne (or thereabouts). The weather seems so miserable at the moment (it's snowing heavily here) that it would be a good idea to have something to look forward to.

Add your name if you're interested and suggested dates - I think a month or so on from now would be good.

What a disappointment GillieB. I do hope you can still make it. I am sure that glass will be able to think of a venue that is easily accessible. [fingers crossed emoticon]

Thanks, Absent - the best laid plans of mice and men, as they say ...

Gillybob I am taking the bus into n,castle tomorrow and will ask what buses go to the Quayside or Central Station from the bus station. I seem to remember the taxi rank is just on the other side of the ranks of buses. I never drive in as the parking is no fun.
I use to like the restaurant at the Biscuit Factory. It,s changed its name and I haven,t been for a while. I won't be able to make a Thursday but I'm sure it will be good wherever .also Blackfriars has a good restaurant and parking but people without a car might not like the walk from the station. I always used it as a coffe stop between the station and Bainbridge and lunch on my return

GillieB I hope you can make it sad, I have had another thought As you like it in Jesmond a short hop on the Metro or taxi for the people coming from the station, there is a NCP car park at Archibold Terrace next to the restaurant and they may also have disabled bays I will contact them to see if they have.

As You like it

Trip advisor gives As You like it quite a good write up, they say it is ideal for groups.

I went to a wedding there last year and it has a good feel about it and the food was good. Lots of different areas so its good for groups.

I've never been - but it does sound good. I am now stuck in for a few days and GS has gone down with chickenpox - great! He doesn't have many spots and seems to be ok, if a little subdued, but that's me out of commission as obviously he can't go to nursery. DD brought him over today as usual, but if he does get worse I'll be going over there to look after him.

glassortwo Tue 05-Feb-13 13:46:47

glass how many times can you use good in one paragraph grin sorry folks.

GillieB a poor little soul, hope your not tied in too long sad

absent Tue 05-Feb-13 13:48:54

GillieB Take care. Isn't the chicken pox virus the one that can give rise to shingles?

glassortwo Tue 05-Feb-13 14:42:42

I have been in touch with As you like it re parking and this is their reply

There are several parking areas located near to As You Like It which will have disabled parking bays. Alternatively there are some parking bays situated on the road between As You Like It and Mr Lynch where you can pay to park. These are the closest to us.

Many thanks

Julie

glass As You Like It looks good. GillieB, hope your GS gets over the pox soon - hopefully he'll have a mild dose, but those spots can soon spread! Look after yourself, no shingles please sad

It was an unusual venue for a wedding, it was 50's themed and the venue just seemed perfect. It was very laid back.

I will leave it up to you all to decide where you want to go, still plenty time.

gillybob Tue 05-Feb-13 19:42:15

As you know Glass I am easy!

glassortwo Tue 05-Feb-13 19:45:34

grin grin grin grin

moomin No, no, no, not pox – that has always meant syphilis. Chicken pox (or smallpox, which happily doesn't officially exist any more) are quite different diseases. grin

Don't worry pinkp, these things are always rather chaotic to organise – but that is nothing compared with how chaotic they are when they take place. grin
