Glass and I were talking the other day about arranging another get-together in the near future in Newcastle upon Tyne (or thereabouts). The weather seems so miserable at the moment (it's snowing heavily here) that it would be a good idea to have something to look forward to.
Add your name if you're interested and suggested dates - I think a month or so on from now would be good.
moomin No, no, no, not pox – that has always meant syphilis. Chicken pox (or smallpox, which happily doesn't officially exist any more) are quite different diseases.
glass As You Like It looks good. GillieB, hope your GS gets over the pox soon - hopefully he'll have a mild dose, but those spots can soon spread! Look after yourself, no shingles please
I have been in touch with As you like it re parking and this is their reply
There are several parking areas located near to As You Like It which will have disabled parking bays. Alternatively there are some parking bays situated on the road between As You Like It and Mr Lynch where you can pay to park. These are the closest to us.
I've never been - but it does sound good. I am now stuck in for a few days and GS has gone down with chickenpox - great! He doesn't have many spots and seems to be ok, if a little subdued, but that's me out of commission as obviously he can't go to nursery. DD brought him over today as usual, but if he does get worse I'll be going over there to look after him.
GillieB I hope you can make it , I have had another thought As you like it in Jesmond a short hop on the Metro or taxi for the people coming from the station, there is a NCP car park at Archibold Terrace next to the restaurant and they may also have disabled bays I will contact them to see if they have.
Gillybob I am taking the bus into n,castle tomorrow and will ask what buses go to the Quayside or Central Station from the bus station. I seem to remember the taxi rank is just on the other side of the ranks of buses. I never drive in as the parking is no fun. I use to like the restaurant at the Biscuit Factory. It,s changed its name and I haven,t been for a while. I won't be able to make a Thursday but I'm sure it will be good wherever .also Blackfriars has a good restaurant and parking but people without a car might not like the walk from the station. I always used it as a coffe stop between the station and Bainbridge and lunch on my return
What a disappointment GillieB. I do hope you can still make it. I am sure that glass will be able to think of a venue that is easily accessible. [fingers crossed emoticon]
