I have been nagging hinting to Geraldine about the possiblity of a National Meetup and this is her reply...........

glassortwo I did spot your hint about a national meetup and we'd love to do this.

It's just a question of how/where - but we are keen and we're looking into venues and how best to organise it.

Think it's a brilliant idea and we will make it happen this year - just a question of working out how.

If anyone has any thoughts about what (where) they'd like, we would of course be grateful for suggestions.

So thinking caps on everyone. smile

I wondered where you were grin

Galen Fri 12-Apr-13 14:05:13

Possibly. So long as its scooter accessable. Rather have a hotel so can stay the night.

Marelli Fri 12-Apr-13 14:14:08

grin - how did I miss it, glass?!!

Flowerofthewest Fri 12-Apr-13 22:09:06

It would be really exciting to be able to put faces to names. smile

Definitely interested.

would be interested depending on location. Happy to travel but think accommodation would be cheaper away from London. Why don't you all come to Blackpool (ha ha) we have lots and lots of cheap accommodation, conference size venues and we don't mind people who like a drink! We are also accessible by road, rail, air and sea!grin

Looks like "seal" again to my somewhat unfocussed eyes. How long would it take to travel by that mode from Berkshire? lol !!

Marelli Sun 14-Apr-13 09:57:38

seasider, you may have something there! smile

baubles Sun 14-Apr-13 10:00:13

I'm interested, obviously dependant on dates though. smile

bookdreamer Sun 14-Apr-13 10:01:05

Definitely interested. Does depend on dates though.

Absolutely up for it. Plenty of notice required - how about October after the half term holiday is over - cheaper rates and not so many people about?

Gorki Sun 14-Apr-13 12:10:18

I would second October time before the weather gets too cold.

I'm on but please make it near to a regional airport like East Mids/Liverpool/Leeds - the added bonus then is that there are always big hotels nearby with large group facilities.

How about at/ near one of the 50+shows. They tend have lots going on and there are designated areas for speakers etc.

Jenner Sat 20-Apr-13 10:21:54

Won't be wearing my hairnet that day!

cathy Sat 20-Apr-13 21:39:16

glass if you want to arrange a meet you don't have to ask HQ do you?

cathy Sat 20-Apr-13 21:40:29

We could all meet in Trafalgar Square in London smile

A bit far for the Scottish contingent Cathy.

merlotgran Sun 21-Apr-13 00:03:52

Sounds good. Midlands would be great because I can stay overnight. with DS.

Goose Sun 21-Apr-13 00:36:44

I'm up for it...if you take 'aging hippies'????

glassortwo Sun 21-Apr-13 20:54:40

cathy no we have meet up all the time and just arrange tham to suit ourselves, but this will be the first National so thats why GNHQ are involved.

Elegran Sun 21-Apr-13 21:02:17

London would mean those from further afield would have to stay, probably for two nights. London prices are not attractive!

When we had (Scottish) national meetings of Women's Aid, we operated a fares pool to ensure that everyone attending paid roughly the same for travel.
