On another thread some of us discovered that there were quite a few GNs living in the Reading area so we have decided to meet up on 18th July possibly in the restaurant in John Lewis. There are 3 takers at the moment so it would be lovely if others could join us.

Hope you have a good time, do let us know how it went. Once we get the DH started on his new chemo I shall have some idea of how available I am for meetings, hopefully it won't be too bad and I'll be able to get out a bit.

Thanks Deedaa. There will only be two of this time but several others have expressed an interest for later in the year , perhaps October.
Do hope your husband has recovered from his chest infection and that the new chemo goes well. Keep in touch.

Have a lovely time tomorrow both of you.

Deeda dustyangel I'm looking forward to tomorrow, and the next time when you will both be there.

Thanks dustyangel

noodles and I had a lovely morning in Reading and chatted away as if we had known each other for years. It was the first meetup I had been to and it was lovely to put a face and a personality to a name. We found we had so much in common and so many experiences to share. Thank you noodles for a lovely morningflowers. We are anxious to meet again quite soon ,possibly early September , and would like it if others could join us. Watch this space !

I'd be up for September smile preferably early as my son's girlfriend has her C section booked for the 24th.

Gorki Fri 19-Jul-13 07:39:13

Early September would be fine Deedaa.I can manage from 5th (when grandchildren go back to school ) .

Deedaa Fri 19-Jul-13 16:19:37

Brain is now completey addled by the heat!!! Baby is due 24th October not September!!! I have known this for weeks blush Dependent on daughter's work might have to bring current baby, but I'll worry about that later.

Gorki Fri 19-Jul-13 19:52:27

No problem.

Hekko Gorki. It was great meeting you. I felt as though we'd known each other for ages! I'd love to meet up again in September.... Hopefully with Deeda, dustyangel and other GNs.

Gorki Wed 31-Jul-13 16:13:34

What's that, a new style of greeting noodles ? !! I often think back to our meet-up in Reading and our chat . Can't believe how quickly the time passed. It's August tomorrow so I think we need to start thinking of a date in September with a view to including others hopefully. Any suggestions ?

noodles Wed 31-Jul-13 17:15:22

Big fingers, small tablet! Yes, I'd love to meet up again in September...and just to start the ball rolling, how about 10.30 on Thursday September 5th?

Gorki Thu 01-Aug-13 08:44:10

Absolutely fine by me. I know dustyangel won't be able to make it until October (we could do another one then) but hopefully others will be able to join us.

noodles Thu 01-Aug-13 09:59:50

Hi Gorki back at my laptop which means my spelling should be better smile

Smashing. Look forward to seeing you again.

Gorki Thu 01-Aug-13 13:44:45

If nobody else responds I will start a new thread and ask for suggestions as to venue. It will be really good to meet up again. grin

Deedaa Tue 06-Aug-13 23:49:36

September 5th sounds good to me at the moment smile

Gorki Wed 07-Aug-13 08:12:36

Brilliant Deedaa ! Hope you will be able to make it. It would be nice to expand our duo into a trio at least. It would be great if others could join us too.

noodles Sun 11-Aug-13 19:30:16

Hello Gorki and Deeda

Lovely. Looking forward to the 5th.

Deedaa Sun 11-Aug-13 21:55:06

Keeping all fingers crossed smile

Gorki Mon 12-Aug-13 12:10:19

Looks like there are 2 definites and 3 possibles so far for our meetup on 5th September at 10.30 in Reading. It would be lovely if we could make the list a bit longer and any suggestions regarding venue would be welcome.

If parking is an issue, perhaps the Waitrose on Oxford Road is worth considering? They have a Costa and a good car park.

Gorki Tue 13-Aug-13 09:12:35

I didn't know there was a Waitrose on Oxford Road noodles. Is it far along? Could be a possibility but one of the Surrey GNs may be coming by train and doesn't know Reading so maybe a more central venue would be better ?

noodles Tue 13-Aug-13 14:56:41

Yes, it is quite a long way down Oxford Road - just past the Richfield Avenue roundabout. It's my 'local' shop.

I agree with you Gorki that a central venue would make more sense for anyone using the train.

GadaboutGran Tue 13-Aug-13 21:31:39

I shall try & come but I know my childcare day will be different that week & I won't know until they are back from holiday. I prefer to come by train but can come by car or get a bus from the station if you want to go out of town. (Is Waitrose far from Reading West station? - the slow trains stop there).
