Hi
I'm the local editor for GN Bolton and would love organise a meetup here in September. Wheniam64 organised a great NW meetup in May, where I was able to meet lots of other Gransnetters. It would be fantastic if everyone could come along again, although I don't want to hijack the NW meetups which have been in existence before I was even a GN member. Everyone was very welcoming and I hope we can have another chatty lunch . By all means DM with your views or questions
Pam

Hello there Pam, I'd love to join another meet up.

Yes, I'd be up for another meet-up. I'll be away for part of September, but will be there if I can. Thanks, GinnyTonic

Same goes for me. I'm away from 4 - 12 September, but would love to meet up with everyone again if possible smile

Hi Ginny will this be instead of the NW meet-up? I only ask because though Bolton is good for me we did agree to rotate the NW meetings to accommodate those in the south of the area too. thanks

seasider It's confusing becase no-one has responsbility for organising meet-ups. I'm willing to go wherever, and it would be fairer to those Gransetters who have travelled in to Manchester or Bolton to move elsewhere. It might even mean that some Gransnetters decide to join only those meet-ups that are nearer home for them.

Didn't you invite everyone to Blackpool, too? These threads disappear if we don't keep chipping in. smile

Oh, a day at the seaside, what a good idea.

seasider Sun 04-Aug-13 17:14:57

the local editors have been asked to arrange local meet-ups in their areas but the North West one just evolved thanks to When and Anno organising things. I don't see why we can't have both but I do think we should move the North West one around as some people don't want to travel far and some areas don't have local editors. I did try to arrange a Blackpool meet-up but only a couple of takers however we will be meeting up soon if anyone fancies a day at the seaside? what happened to the idea of a national meet-up?smile

Finances!

whenim64 Sun 04-Aug-13 17:27:24

I'm more than happy to rely on local editors to arrange local meet-ups and I'm sure anno would feel the same. These started before the editors were in place, and we're all free to carry on arranging to meet up for a coffee or lunch with nearby Gransnetters, too, if we like.

Just tell us where the next one is going to be, and we can opt in or wait for one nearer home next time. They're so enjoyable, they're worth travelling to. smile

Don't know if anyone would be interested but there are a number of musical shows coming to Blackpool in the next few months. The prices are much cheaper than London/Manchester plus group discounts available. Matinees are usually Wednesdays/Thursdays and Saturdays. I would be happy to arrange a theatre booking and lunch/coffee if anybody interested? and without wishing to mention the "C" word will we be having a festive get together as we may have to book early! grin

Hi Ginny have you got a date yet?

Iam64 Wed 07-Aug-13 08:37:13

We are planning to be away the week beginning 23 September so apologies from me if the date is that week. otherwise, it'll be great to meet up again - I don't mind where as the north west isn't a big place if you have a car!

seasider Fri 23-Aug-13 23:33:09

Hi did we decide a date for the next Bolton/North West meet up? Why Don't we have the next meet up in Bolton then move the venue round the North West . If there is a local editor they can arrange a meeting and in other areas I am sure we can get some suggestions. If we move around everyone should manage to get to a meet up. As I mentioned before if we are having a pre c****** meeting we may need to book early smile

Iam64 Sat 24-Aug-13 07:57:30

Bolton is easiest for me, but I don't mind travelling, the north west is so accessible. We don't have a date, should we be talking about this on the local site? I'm new to gransnet and don't always know my way round....

seasider Sun 25-Aug-13 08:13:50

Hi I am64 I think it is probably better on the main site or only people visiting the local site will see it. smile

whenim64 Sun 25-Aug-13 08:17:42

I'm looking forward to meeting up again. Just name the place and time. Away end of September, but should be ok otherwise smile

seasider Sun 25-Aug-13 08:31:53

Maybe where we met last time? Not seen anything from Ginny maybe she is away . I can't remember the name of the place where we met? Perhaps best to find out when people are available.

whenim64 Sun 25-Aug-13 18:50:29

That was the Tavern on Hunger Hill. It was a good venue with plenty of room and service was good.

Iam64 Sun 25-Aug-13 19:16:51

The Tavern worked well didn't it. I'd be happy to meet there again. We're away 21 September for 7 nights. It sounds as though you may be away when we get back im64 - we're around in October. It will be good to see people again

vegasmags Sun 25-Aug-13 19:20:08

I'd love to meet up again, but have lot on in both Sept and Oct, but if I can make it, I certainly will. I really like meeting actual as opposed to virtual people!

Iam64 Sun 25-Aug-13 19:42:19

good

annodomini Sun 25-Aug-13 20:24:58

I feel the need of a meet-up - will be away from 11th to 17th September but will be pretty flexible thereafter.

GinnyTonic Mon 26-Aug-13 19:50:33

Hi Everyone
Sorry I've not been back on this forum - life has been a bit complicated recently - OH now recovered from heart bypass, Mums broken wrist is healing and sister has been given all clear after op. Anyway, how about a lunch meeting at the Tavern on the hill in Bolton on Thursday 19th September, complete with diaries, where we can arrange next meeting. I would Really love to go to a show at the seaside, sounds a great idea, but I realise we need to book early.

seasider Mon 26-Aug-13 22:42:52

Hi Ginny good to see you back . 19th is a good date for me smile
