smileAs there are a few Herts gransnetters who have shown an interest in meeting up, let's do it! I will start the ball rolling by suggesting a possible date but please, anyone who is interested, come forward with your preferred date and venue! We are a bit spread out so as a first suggestion, how about Pearces farmshop cafe on the A10? Ware might also be a good location, and Fanhams Hall does a fab afternoon tea. That would have to be booked of course, which I am happy with, but others might prefer a more 'open house' approach? As it's Easter next weekend, how about the following week, say Wednesday 30th? Please all you local girls (or boys!) of any age, join us for a get together. I would love to meet you all! smile

Would love to but need a lift from DH as I don't drive. Any one in the Letchworth area willing to car share? I do fancy a farm shop rather than anything too posh. I am a simple soul.

BasketCase Tue 15-Apr-14 18:05:32

I, too, would love to meet up but can't make the 30th April. Any other day that week would be fine. Pearce's sounds like a good choice of venue. I'm in Ware so could offer a lift to one or two people if that would help anyone.

Marvellous Flowerofthewest and BasketCase, I am so pleased that you are both keen! I can do Tue 29th or Fri 2nd; is that any good for either/both of you? Seems like Pearces farmshop is favourite then. I hope someone else from Letchworth pops up!

goldengirl Tue 15-Apr-14 22:06:43

Im in Hatfield and can make Tue 29th or Fri 2. Lunch or tea? How will we recognise each other? I'll be the one looking vague smile

jacqui60 Tue 15-Apr-14 22:44:10

grin well that will make at least 2 vague looking grannies! Other groups do things like all wear something purple or yellow etc. There's always the carnation in the buttonhole or a rolled up Daily Mail! Perhaps a strategically placed book on the table: Grumpy Old Women?
Please cast your votes now for Tues or Fri.

Flowerofthewest Thu 17-Apr-14 15:47:37

I'm on my way to Wales on the 2nd. Will check with DH re the 29th. Maybe wearing something purple - ish

Flowerofthewest Thu 17-Apr-14 16:08:47

Just spoke to DH and he would love to drop me off there. We know were it is and have been there many times before. It is the one not far from Braughing? I assume. I can make 29th April. So excited. We could arrange to meet by the Petunias or something.

goldengirl Thu 17-Apr-14 18:03:24

I'll look up what a petunia looks like tbuhmm

jacqui60 Thu 17-Apr-14 18:34:50

I am really looking forward to it too! Yes, it is on the A10 just before the Braughing exit. I'm not sure if I have anything purple, apart from a wooly! But that's a good excuse to go shopping; I quite fancy a purple blouse! Or will purple eyeshadow do?! I went to Pearces today with my dad, daughter and grandsons and we had some delicious desserts!!cupcake So I think we will have an enjoyable meeting!
So are we agreeing on Tuesday 29th?

jacqui60 Thu 17-Apr-14 18:43:16

I hope Basketcase can make it too!

Flowerofthewest Thu 17-Apr-14 18:49:17

You can see me too I think

Flowerofthewest Thu 17-Apr-14 18:49:57

So excited.

jacqui60 Thu 17-Apr-14 20:07:41

It is exciting! Have you got anything purple, Flower? will your DH join us for tea and cakes or does he prefer to amuse himself elsewhere?
If there is anyone else who would like to come but needs a lift please come on and we can try to arrange things!

Flowerofthewest Thu 17-Apr-14 23:49:34

He may but he may prefer to go off somewhere and find a muck heap or two. I could find something purple if it's only me drawers tbugrin

BasketCase Fri 18-Apr-14 08:40:38

Great to log on this morning and see we are "on" for a meet up. 29th is fine for me. Do we have a time in mind? Lunch or tea? Off to find something purple to wear. So looking forward to meeting other Gransnetters.

Oldgreymare Fri 18-Apr-14 09:30:37

I lived in Herts (Hatfield then Stevenage) and expressed an interest before but will also be in Wales that week...... enjoy!
P.S. I've been to a few meet-ups SW/Bristol etc(where I now live) and they have all been great fun!

jacqui60 Fri 18-Apr-14 14:06:38

I am sorry Oldgreymare, that you cannot make it this time but hopefully if it's not too much of a disaster we can do it again! Tho Bristol seems a long way to come!
Lunchtime is favourite for me as due to bad planning I have a teenaged daughter as well as grandchildren, and she has her Theory Driving Test later that afternoon! Is lunchtime ok for everyone?
I am just about to break into my first Easter egg! How is everyone else doing? grin

goldengirl Fri 18-Apr-14 17:14:50

Say a time for the 29th and I shall be there with a RED shoulder bag (have been following the handbag thread). Lunch sound fine to me - that's if I'm back after the previous days underground strike!

mrshat Fri 18-Apr-14 20:07:49

Altho living in Watford I would try to get to the meet up BUT I am on an 'away day' with the U3A! Maybe next time.....................tbugrin

jacqui60 Sat 19-Apr-14 15:35:23

Is 12.30 a good time for everyone? Are we going for red handbags then? Hope you can join us next time mrshat!

Flowerofthewest Sat 19-Apr-14 15:44:09

Red HANDBAGS!!!!! wouldn't be seen -dead- carrying one normally. Will see what I can do.

Flowerofthewest Sat 19-Apr-14 15:45:10

Kidding goldengirl just haven got one. Will wear a red ribbon in my hair. tbugrin

Flowerofthewest Sat 19-Apr-14 15:46:39

12.30 then. Shall we agree to meet near the first flower stand outside, maybe. tbuconfused

jacqui60 Sat 19-Apr-14 16:18:37

Ok. I will be loitering near the flower stand, with or without red handbag and I will hopefully not accost any innocent granny types who are there on other business! tbublush
