While the Newcastle meetup was being organised, one in Edinburgh during the festival was mentioned. Edinburgh is packed to the crowsteps in August, so it may not be easy to book for a large party, but there are plenty of eateries so surely something will be possible. Any opinions on where to eat? ROSL as we have done before? Somewhere else?
Dates of festivals are -:
Edinburgh International Festival 8-31 August Festival Fringe 1st to 25th August Edinburgh Art Festival 31 July – 31 August Edinburgh International Book Festival 9 - 25 August
Just on the train back to Newcastle after a great day in Edinburgh. Lovely to see you all again Elegran, Marelli, Tegan, Bags, Marmight and to meet you Elizabeth1. We never stopped talking & I couldn't believe how quickly the time passed! Thank you again Elegran for organising and I hope to join you all again in the winter
Just returned to the laptop and seen that everyone seems to have enjoyed it, I am so pleased. As you say, boy can we talk! Elizabeth1 was later getting there than anyone else but soon made up for lost time!
About time to think about the next. Ariadne!! Calling Ariadne!! When was it you said you would be on your way through the area? With this meetup behind us we can now concentrate on September - and October too so that ffinochio can get organised.
Any dates that anyone wants to suggest or avoid? Any ideas for where to meet and/or what to do?
It was great! Really enjoyed being able to talk to everyone again (and boy can we talk ). Tegan and I trundled along to Waverley Station at a more leisurely pace than you Fifers. I've found a quicker way for me to get across country too: two trains instead of one but not so many stops. Thanks everyone, and to elegran for organising it again.
.....the walk dash along the length of Princes Street to the station may have helped reduce some of the calories ingested in the delicious chocolate pud which I should have refused
What a lovely meet-up! So good to see these people that have become my friends over the last three years. Looking forward to the next one - and Elegran, thank you so much for arranging it for us again! Elizabeth1 - glad that you kept up with my fast walking (note to self - add to exercise bit in Myfitnesspal)! We caught that train and your Geordie was there waiting patiently for us - he never lets us down, bless him! xx
Your were more than welcome to my onion rings Elizabeth (fingerdownthethroat emoticon). I think they may have been a little cool by the time you got them! Thanks Elegran, Bags, Marelli, JaneA, Tegan and Elizabeth (eventually!) for a lovely lunch and lots of chat. Look forward to the next meeting in September/October.
Lovely meet up - it was good to see you all I am so pleased I could make it. I really enjoyed my steak and thank you for passing over the onion rings cause I nearly cried when my plate came without. What is a steak without onion rings? Anne you can walk faster than superman can fly it fairly broke the sweat out on me getting to the train in time. Hope to get to the next meet up and by then I may have another beautiful newborn baby born into the fold of the clan. enjoy and take care everyone. Xxx
If I scrub any more, Marmight, I shall have bleeding nails. If I smell of ammomia tomorrow, it is for the insect bites. I am getting that in now, in plenty of time.
Today has been pretty good, some showers but not chucking it down as it has been recently. Forecast for tomorrow is a dry morning, about 13 degrees, from 2 pm it will be 15 degrees, possible high of 17, with 10% chance of rain in the afternoon. Could be worse!
Hope you have a lovely, sunny day in Edinburgh. We were through today, savouring the Festival Buzz, drinking wine and coffee at a pavement café and going to see Alan Bisset's The Pure, The Dead and The Brilliant (2.30 at The Assembly Rooms). It was simply - pure, dead, brilliant.
Last day off for me, back on the school run from tomorrow.
Looking forward to seeing everyone. Marmight and I will be arriving in plenty of time (and will find out where the Observation Bar is). Elizabeth1 will be a wee bit later, but she'll be there. ffinnochio, we'll get our heads together and get October sorted. So looking forward to meeting you.
Hoping that an October date can be arranged earlier rather than later. Flights and Airbnb accomm. need to be arranged for this long-distance traveller.
Hope you all have a great meet up this Wednesday, and looking forward to meeting some of you.
