I am recovering from moving around every single thing in the garage twice.
A few weeks ago I got rid of some decrepit old cupboards that stood across the back wall out there. The chance came up suddenly, so I had no chance to empty them efficiently, just had to turf everything out and pile it up against a side wall.
Tuesday - was having a mooch around Barnado's furniture charity shop and saw an ideal set of wooden shelves - 6ft wide. Went home and measured across garage - 9ft 4 ins - measured the good cupboard still remaining - 3ft 3 ins. Room for both across back wall with an inch to spare. Bought shelves, to be delivered today.
Yesterday - bus to B&Q, bought white paint. Cleared floor right across back of garage to 4ft deep. Painted back wall and 4 ft of side walls. Mixed up mortar and filled various holes where walls meet floor so as to discourage spiders.
This morning - emptied good cupboard, everything on top of previous pile. Got neighbour to help me shift cupboard to back wall and shove bits of wood under one side to try to make it stand up straight (floor dips several inches in the middle) Put everything back in that cupboard. Realised I should check that there is 6ft left for shelves. THERE IS 5 FT 11 AND A HALF. Shelves would have to stand against side wall where everything is piled up. Moved it all out onto drive, swept floor, swept down cobwebs on wall, mixed up mortar to fill holes where side wall meets floor.
This afternoon - Considered taking bus to B&Q to buy more paint but shelves bound to arrive if I went out and anyway I was knackered. Moved everything back in but this time stacked by category and with quite a lot of it in the bin. Shelves arrived and were put in position but on a slope due to dip in floor. Did NOT level them up or put things on them as the wall behind them is still not painted, and anyway I was knackered.
What was it you wanted?
