Ok, We have finished digesting the the Missoni Bar's blue ice lollies and organised the theatre visit in December, now to turn our minds to October.

There were six or seven people interested in meeting then. I shall PM you all to check that you are still on, but meanwhile would anyone else like to join us?

Possible dates are:-
The first week (any day)
The 13th, 14th and 15th
The week from 17th to 23rd (any day)

Any preferences within those dates?

When and where shall we meet?

Im a granny, but I am doing something else today but will have grandstand view of the bonfire from my drawing room in the evening, it was spectacular last year

Marelli Sun 05-Oct-14 09:57:00

I would've loved to have seen that jollyg. Read it out to DH who did part of his National Service in Malaya. He remembers the Ghurkas who were allowed to have time off from all duties so that they could join in with the celebrations in fine style. smile

Jane10, tell your family not to worry! We're a very gentle, kind bunch of lasses (mainly well-groomed...apart from me - I'm a bit messy) grin!

The fireworks are billed to start at 7.30. I have had a look but can't find any more timings, except for the children's craft from 3 to 5 and the pipes and fiddles at 5.30. It sounds like an exciting day on Calton Hill, I might wander up myself if I can move after we finish eating at Gennaro's.

Unfortunately I won't be able to see the fireworks from the comfort of my own windows. When the Festival and Hogmanay spectaculars are on I am kept awake by the bangs but can see nothing.

Hope you all enjoyed your day ladies?

Elegran Sun 05-Oct-14 17:59:34

Yes we did, really fabulous. Gennaro's food was delicious.

We now have four more faces to put to names.

Marelli Sun 05-Oct-14 18:08:24

We had a really nice time! As usual, the company was lovely (much noise from much blethering)!

Thank you friends, what a lovely lunch we had. I'm delighted to have met new granspals today.

I'm so pleased with our Sunday outing and the "old" and not so "old" familiar faces. The crack was really good fun. Edinburgh was teaming and what a lovely atmosphere from one who lives a wee bit into the backwater. My day out was a little marred because my sister couldn't get home after staying at mine cause she lost her car key. Guess where I found it? A prize to the one who can tell me where it was.

Elegran Sun 05-Oct-14 18:53:37

In the car?

Marelli Sun 05-Oct-14 19:44:38

Really enjoyed our lunch date. Good to meet Grans new and old. Here's to the Christmas outing in December [ballet dancer emoticon]

Elizabeth1 Mon 06-Oct-14 08:31:23

Nope nope nope and I'm trying to put a wee picture at the end of my story line however I've just recognised I'm trying to use pictures from my keyboard instead of the Gransnet ones. That's why I'm getting the wee squares Duh confused well ....... as I've said on Marellis facebook page - are we going to France next year? grin

Elizabeth1 Mon 06-Oct-14 08:33:55

Thank you Elegran another successful meet up in the beautiful city of Edinburgh - see you in December smile
