Isn't it about time we had another Birmingham meet up?

Any thoughts about date/venue/time?

Lunch maybe, early March or last week in February?

Tegan Sun 12-Jul-15 13:17:04

I really liked the museum/art gallery because it gave people something to do if they arrived early and was more flexible for people not knowing if they could come or not. But I'm not much of a 'foodie' and I don't drink.

Possible by unlikely sad

I won`t be able to make it this time, can`t manage all the changes on the trains, and those stairs at the museum, they almost did me in! It was a good meet up though, in 2012, is it really almost 3 years, never!

Tegan Sun 12-Jul-15 18:47:56

It was good wasn't it. And, being so central it brought together people from all over the country. If my driving was better I'd try to get over your way but I'm tied to public transport if it's further than the local supermarket blush.

Luckylegs9 Sun 19-Jul-15 07:49:53

Please let me know when you have a date for meeting up.

Anya Tue 21-Jul-15 16:47:25

Perhaps someone should PM Soutra - after all she started this thread and might feel left out.

Tegan Tue 21-Jul-15 16:51:25

True but, as she doesn't actually live in the Midlands she only used it as a central location to get the ball rolling. I doubt that another Birmingham meet up would draw people from far away again sad.

If anyone would be interested, I could get to Nottingham a lot easier than to Birmingham, only one (much easier) train change. The trouble with living in Boston is that not many folk live in this area.

annsixty Tue 21-Jul-15 17:45:54

I might be able to make Nottingham or Derby, would depend on the day of course and DH!!

Tegan Tue 21-Jul-15 18:06:48

I don't know of places round Nottingham station; might need to do a bit of exploring. I'll work on it.

numberplease Tue 21-Jul-15 21:13:28

I don`t know Nottingham as a place either Tegan, I`ve only ever been with others to the 2 main shopping centres, so don`t know my way round, but it might be interesting looking!

Tegan Tue 21-Jul-15 21:16:45

As we're both away over the next few weeks we'll aim for September if that's ok smile.

Elrel Tue 21-Jul-15 23:12:33

I'd love to meet some gransnetters in Birmingham as I live there!

Teetime Wed 22-Jul-15 09:19:52

I'm happy to do Birmingham or Nottingham lots of nice places to eat and shop in both. I am away 7-11 September in Ross on Wye.

Anya Wed 22-Jul-15 09:22:24

I'm away 7-11 September too, in Jersey.

granjura Wed 22-Jul-15 09:33:26

Looks like we will be over last 2 weeks in October- so hopefully some of us will be able to meet up in Market Harborough then- looking forward to it. In the meantime, enjoy the next meet-up, wherever it will be.

Luckylegs9 Sat 25-Jul-15 17:37:24

Think you need to set a date, for example Edwardian Tearooms second Saturday in October and see how many want to go, I say about 11 o clock and we need a minimum of 4 people.

kittylester Sat 25-Jul-15 17:51:33

Why do you think we need a minimum of 4, Lucky? confused

Tegan Sat 25-Jul-15 18:00:08

I do have a cunning plan and that is that, when I eventually decide on a date to go to Brum I'm going to announce that I'll be in the tearooms at such and such a time and if anyone turns up they do and if not I'm there anyway. Was thinking that the Birmingham g'netters would be able to make it and we could then plan a larger meeting later on; might be in the next couple of weeks. If it goes wrong I'm quite happytalking to myself [and often do]....

Tegan Wed 29-Jul-15 12:24:28

'I'm quite happytalking to myself [and often do]....' bit like now really sad......

Anya Wed 29-Jul-15 12:47:07

I'd try to fit in with Birmingham date. I'm trying to fit a lot in between now and the end of October, so I'll go with the flow! X

Tegan Wed 29-Jul-15 13:22:35

Same here; the summer is just disappearing and I do have to go to Birmingham to do some family research. Currently looking at 17th-21st August. My plan is to go there on the train, go to the museum etc anyway [cause I love it there] and then stay with my cousin for a day or so, to see what I can find out about our family history.

Anya Wed 29-Jul-15 13:25:54

I can't do Fridays as apparently I've offered to run GS3's Chess Club on Friday lunchtime. At least that's what the email, thanking me, said from his HT.

I'll wring his neck when he gets back from France hmm (GS3 not the HT)
