...some of us are keen to have another meet up. I think the art gallery was a good place, especially now it has been re vamped. I'm away on and off quite a lot over the next couple of months, but if any of the 'locals' arrange something I'll do my best to fit in. The good thing about the art gallery is that there's no need to book a table so numbers can be more flexible.

So pleased to see your posts. Blinko and Hellobaby and I managed to find each other in spite of no GN sign on the table. We had a good chat over various teas and hope to meet each other, and hopefully all 3 of you, next time. Either June 8th or 22nd are possibilities, both Thursdays.
Teetime, I wasn't very organised about the meet up - apologies. There seems to be more than one relevant thread.
Saralou, hope you are soon mobile!
MawBoon, I'd no idea you were in the Midlands, assumed you were north of the border! I gave your regards to the floozie, she still has no water in her jacuzzi but looks out coyly from some exotic plants and so has also been called the flirt in the dirt!

I'm in Birmingham but sitting with my foot up after a bunion op so may be another time! Hope you had a good get together!

MawBroon Thu 13-Apr-17 11:11:19

Elrel etc please give my regards to the floozy in the jacuzzi. I would have loved to join you but DH/blood transfusion/etc etc etc sad

Aargh! NOT 23rd April ...
So sorry: tomorrow, 13th April, at least one other GNetter and I will be in the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery Edwardian Tearoom. A sign with GN will be on our table.

Elrel Tue 11-Apr-17 23:15:34

This Thursday 23th April I'll be in the Art Gallery tea room from 11am with a GN on my table. Hoping to meet a few local GNs there.

Elrel Fri 22-Jan-16 17:08:06

The skiffle session was cancelled due to the weather. The 6-5 Specials are going to let me know when there's something local and I'll put it on here.

Nonnie Tue 19-Jan-16 13:48:47

Would have loved to have joined you but didn't know about it.

Blinko Tue 19-Jan-16 12:53:04

So how was Monday's meet up? Hope all went well? Afraid the OH and I are still off the hooks.

Elrel Fri 15-Jan-16 01:57:35

I hope you soon feel better, it's so cold! The sharp wind this morning twice caused me to need my angina spray, unused for several weeks.

Blinko Thu 14-Jan-16 00:52:16

Sounds great but not sure if I will be sufficiently recovered by Monday. Suffering from a severe Winter cold. 10 days and counting...

Elrel Wed 13-Jan-16 18:39:00

It is in the Chat forum.

Elrel Wed 13-Jan-16 18:35:45

I've found the skiffle group! On the Have You Had Your 15 Minutes of Fame? thread. Weepam posted on 31/12/16 at 11:48:44
See this for more information about them!

Elrel Wed 13-Jan-16 18:22:37

That should have said TWO Gransnetters! I 'met' them on another thread, will try to find their posts.

Elrel Wed 13-Jan-16 18:08:55

Next Monday afternoon I'm going to hear the Gransnetters in The 6.5 Specials playing their skiffle in Alvechurch, Worcestershire. Looking forward to meeting them and hearing their music of my youth! Anyone else able to come?

annodomini Wed 13-Jan-16 17:55:23

Galen, do you get assistance at stations? A fellow passenger was met by a very helpful man at Stoke who also carried my luggage for me and deposited us both in the First Class waiting room. I'm sure you know all about this but the web site with all the information is: www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations_destinations/disabled_passengers.aspx

Galen Wed 13-Jan-16 17:18:14

Might be interested, is the station now more disabled friendly? It was a mess last time I used it.

Teetime Wed 13-Jan-16 17:01:18

I don't think so but a Spring trip to the big JL would be a great idea - I'll come if the date fits in.

Blinko Wed 13-Jan-16 16:46:14

Ooh, hello, I've just discovered this thread. I live near Wolverhampton and would love to meet some other GNers face to face. Birmingham is easy for me, so I hope it'll be ok if I join the next gathering. Is anything planned so far this year?

Nonnie Fri 23-Oct-15 13:11:51

I can do any day of the week!

Tegan Fri 23-Oct-15 11:22:08

No problem with those days Alea. I'm planning to visit my home town on a regular basis, especially now that the new station is so 'idiot proof' and there's [hopefully] less chance of me getting on the wrong train. As I was watching the screen telling me which platform to go to [kept saying TBC] I said to the young lad stood next to me who was getting very very bored that 'the train has arrived, according to the screen, but they don't seem to know where it is' to which his dad added 'it must be platform something or other [y'know, the Hogwarts one]'' 'really?' said the lad, his eyes lighting up, so me and his dad said 'could be winkwink'.

Alea Fri 23-Oct-15 10:28:12

Not necessarily! You'd have had at least one more if it had been a Wednesday or Friday sad

Nonnie Fri 23-Oct-15 10:18:42

Good to meet you both again, nice small group so easy to chat but it would also be good to meet more Gns next time. Would more come if we met in All Bar one? wine

So many news places in Brum now I will have to go back and see The Mailbox and whatever the one at the NEC is called.

Only took a picture of 'The Eye of Sauron' from inside the station but still don't know how to stick it on here blush. Think I might do a Tom Hanks [can't remember the name of the film] and move into Grand Central and live on John Lewis cakes....

Alea Thu 22-Oct-15 22:23:18

Pictures?????
