I can't make that GF as it's the last day of my step sister's stay and I'm going with her to Brum for her to catch the train back to Scotland. But I enjoyed our last meet and will do my best to come next time.

Does anyone know what has happened to dramatictessa ?I have just tried to send her a pm but I'd was not accepted. She apparently contributed on 14th October but I can't find it.

Just to remind you that there is a meet up on Thursday at the Ashmolean museum in Oxford. It begins at 11 o'clock or thereabouts bus I won't get there until 11.30 ish because of the buses. Do join us if you can.

Greenfinch Wed 19-Oct-16 14:44:34

Hope to be a little earlier tomorrow. I may get a lift into Reading so will be able to catch an earlier bus and hopefully get there by about 11 ☺?

Anya Thu 20-Oct-16 07:25:32

Hope you all have a lovely meet up and sorry I won't be joining you this time.

There were only 2 of us at the meet up today but rosesarered and I had a great time in the Ashmolean café putting the world to rights. Thanks roses for your company. I had a lovely time afterwards browsing in the Egyptian section of the museum before catching the bus home.

M0nica Thu 20-Oct-16 19:29:52

Greenfinch I was delayed and turned up at 11.30 but, not knowing who I was looking for, I walked round the cafe twice obviously looking for someone, hoping that any Gransnetters present might realise notice I was looking for someone and speak to me, but without success. You were both obviously enjoying each others company so much you didn't notice.

I did consider asking any older women present whether they were Gransnetters, but there were 5 or 6 tables with 2 older women sitting together chatting in an animated fashion, and I knew that if I went from table to table asking I would appear rather odd because s*ds law says, you would have been the last couple I would have spoken to.

Sorry, a few superfluous words in the above post.

rosesarered Thu 20-Oct-16 19:58:02

Well, that's a great shame Monica it was very busy in there today and we tried to keep an eye out in case you came later.Next time we will have to agree to wear a certain colour, scarf etc.
The last two meet ups in the Ashmolean , it was very quiet and easy to spot somebody. In fact the whole of Oxford seem packed today. We need a better system it seems.

Greenfinch Thu 20-Oct-16 20:25:18

Really sorry MOnica.I realised at the time we had not talked about any identifying clothing and I really should have given you my mobile number. It would have been lovely to meet you and it is easy to be wise after the event. I hope it hasn't put you off any future gatherings.

Roses 'twas not injury that kept me away but I had to deposit my step sister at Birmingham New Street for her journey home. In fact I'm much improved and (providing DH hasn't ramped the hand break up to full on) I can now drive.

Ironically I'm in Oxford next Monday and Tuesday with DiL and GDs and the Ashmolean is on the agenda,

Thanks to you and Greenfinch for raising your mugs to me and I hope you enjoyed my the cake!!!

Greenfinch, I had decided to make the trip into Oxford for Gransnet an opportunity to do a bit of clothes shopping, which was equally unsuccessful. I ended up in M&S, which I really do not like and enhanced my dislike of that store. I found two sweaters and a pair of shoes I would have bought if they had had them in my size. The reason? Not that I wanted an odd size, but because 'that is a very popular size, we sell out quickly'.

But do not worry I may have been further put off M&S, but I was not put off attending any Gransnet meet-ups in the future.

That's good, see you both next time around.smile Have fun next week Anya
