I'm coming over to Edinburgh for a family celebration on 8th March. Any meet up arranged there around then? I'm a bit isolated over here in the wilds of County Down. Just asking.

I'll ask my pal bellasgran if she would like to come? She has to have a gluten-free option so will have her own wee plate! cupcake

Thank you Baubles. Can I leave the arrangements to you then? As you know, my attention is focused on my poor little Georgie dog at present.

Marelli Sun 22-Jan-17 20:29:08

My pal bellasgran would like to be added to the list, please, baubles.

Hi folks, can we have a roll call of those who are still interested?

I'm about to message Jud as her wee dog's accident may have scuppered her plans.

Excellent. High tea is served from 3pm, would that be ok with everyone? Anyone who's interested could have a look around the gallery first perhaps?

EllenT Sun 12-Feb-17 13:29:12

Fine for me.

Elegran Sun 12-Feb-17 13:31:22

And me.

Marelli Sun 12-Feb-17 15:35:24

And me - Thursday 9th March at 3?

baubles Sun 12-Feb-17 17:07:05

Yes table booked for eight people at 3pm on Thursday 9th March. I've asked for a table overlooking the gardens but we could well end up against the back wall. grin

Really looking forward to seeing everyone, Iain do hope Jud will make it.

I'll be in Edinburgh for 1ish probably.

May I just ask if you are really planning "High Tea" or Afternoon Tea?
I have noticed how posh hotels some upmarket eateries now tend refer to sandwiches/sconeswith cream and jam/dainty cakes etc as "High Tea" but I always understood High Tea to be a "knife and fork" meal with the addition of a pot of tea eaten at the table.
I wonder how the Ritz would respond to my ordering a ham salad as was often served at my Scottish granny's for High Tea.

Elegran Wed 15-Feb-17 17:56:19

Afternoon tea was mentioned earlier. High tea has just crept in.

baubles Wed 15-Feb-17 19:46:40

Oops that was my mistake. I meant afternoon tea although they also serve high tea, which, as you say Mawbroon is a bit more substantial. It does still feature scones though.

Hello all! As my little invalid is showing signs of improving greatly, DH and I are planning to attend our family event as planned. So, I am confirming I'll be there for afternoon tea on 9th. So looking forward to meeting you all then. Could someone possibly PM me where to find the venue please? I don't know Edinburgh at all.

Judthepud2 Mon 20-Feb-17 21:27:09

Sorry baubles I meant to say thank you very much for organising this meet up.
