Who is interested and which days are impossible for you? I feel a bit of date elimination coming on, which will probably end up with the conclusion that you can't please all of the people all of the time. Ideas, venues, etc welcomed.

So glad you enjoyed your sweet treat! I’ve recovered from the journey - thank goodness for dd, she’s a star!

Hope you all have lovely Christmas when it comes

Katek what an awful experience for you on your way home yesterday not to mention the fatality and bereaved family. So very sad.

Meant to thank you earlier for the lovely thought put into our little Christmas present from you. I’m looking forward to munching on my delicious sweet.

Brunette10 Thu 13-Dec-18 19:04:52

My goodness Katek how awful. Obviously words cannot express the feelings of the family who have tragically lost someone especially at this time of year. It would be a longer journey than you expected but you got home safely with a big hand from your DD so well done her. Thanks again for Christmas pudding treat.

Katek, what a rotten end to a lovely day out.
There must be a jinx on the Edinburgh grans who travel by rail!

Grammaretto Thu 13-Dec-18 12:07:40

I'm sorry I wasn't able to join you this time as I am on important grandma duty. It sounds as though a good time was had by all.
Sorry too that at least two of you were poorly and that Katek had a long journey home
See you all next year and enjoy C when it comes.

Jane10 Thu 13-Dec-18 11:39:08

Oh Katek what an awful experience! At least you managed to get home eventually. When these things happen I always think to myself that I may be inconvenienced (to say the least in your case) but it's so much worse for that bereaved family. Have a relaxing day today - if you can.
Your lovely wee Christmas pudding has pride of place on our mantlepiece.

Thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Auld Reekie and a lovely lunch in good company-just so sorry that Elegran and Geminijen were unable to join us. Hope you’re both feeling better today.

My trip from Edinburgh, however, was an entirely different matter! There were rumblings amongst the passengers as we travelled through Fife that the train was going to terminate in Dundee. People had picked up on social media that there was a problem on the line north of Montrose. Tragically, this turned out to be a fatality just south of Aberdeen. Scotrail only officially let us know that the service was terminating in Dundee just as we were crossing the Tay Bridge. An entire trainload of passengers from Edinburgh met with an entire trainload of passengers from Glasgow on the Dundee concourse! Chaos! Nobody seemed to know what was happening while hundreds of passengers milled about like sheep in a holding pen! Finally it was announced that 6 buses had been asked for, but they didn’t know how many wouid actually turn up or even when!! I’d had enough by this time so grabbed a taxi to Forfar (£26), then my very kind daughter came down from Montrose and drove me back to Aberdeen where I collected my car for the 40 minute drive home! An eventful end to a lovely day-bit if an adventure really!

Thanks again Elegran for arranging this delicious lunch. So sorry you and Geminijen are ill but best to stay indoors nice and cosy, get well soon both of you. There were 11 in total who came for lunch and what a lovely time we had.

Marelli Wed 12-Dec-18 18:11:11

What a lovely meetup! Really nice meal, and lots of blethering. tchgrin.
Wish you could've been there, Elegran and Geminijen, but hopefully it won't be long till the next one.

Brunette10 Wed 12-Dec-18 17:58:18

Nice to see everyone today apart from GeminiJen and Elegran I hope you are both feeling better soon, fingers crossed. Thanks for pressie Katek, very thoughtful. tchsmile

Jane10 Wed 12-Dec-18 16:44:19

I did a great long post but lost it somewhere in the ether! I tried to post photos but somehow can't any more via my mobile. Anyway, it was a lovely occasion marred only by Elegran and Geminijen's absence.

Marydoll Wed 12-Dec-18 15:54:20

Had a lovely afternoon, so great to see everyone.
Thanks Katek for the pressies.☺️

Jane10 Wed 12-Dec-18 10:59:55

Aww what a shame Elegran1 Its just not fair. I hope you feel much better soon.

Marydoll Wed 12-Dec-18 10:06:37

Sorry to hear that, Elengran.

Elegran Wed 12-Dec-18 10:04:00

I've reached a decision - I'm staying home today. Like GeminiJen I wouldn't like to pass it on, whatever it is. It isn't as bad today, but eating and speaking hurt my throat, and as those will be the two main occupations at a lunch meet it seems best if I don't go. As I've said so often to others, there is always the next time.

GeminiJen Tue 11-Dec-18 10:47:04

Thanks Marydoll. It's mutual . Looking forward to seeing the group pic tchsmile

Marydoll Tue 11-Dec-18 10:44:07

Oh that's a shame GeminiJen, you'll be missed. sad

GeminiJen Tue 11-Dec-18 10:39:45

I'm so sorry. I won't be able to join you tomorrow after all. Whatever it is that's doing the rounds, it stopped at me this week...and I wouldn't want to pass this on to any of you in time for Christmas.
Hope that you're on the mend Elegran flowers
Marydoll I've tried the hot toddy remedy, normally a winner but not this time sad
Hope you all have a great time party

Marelli Tue 11-Dec-18 10:00:10

Elegran, I hope you're going to be OK for tomorrow. There can't be a 'show without Punch' ?! Seriously, though, you must look after yourself, and if you're not well, please don't come out into the damp coldness,
(however..... we know where you live....tchwink...!!)

Elegran Mon 10-Dec-18 10:49:40

I've had several hot drinks already, Marydoll but not with any alcohol in them. (yet)

Marydoll Mon 10-Dec-18 10:44:34

I'm prescribing a hot toddy Elegran and some TLC. Everyone I know seems to have had this bug.
Hope you feel better by Wednesday, it wouldn't be the same without you.

Elegran Mon 10-Dec-18 10:05:04

Oh dear, scratchy throat and over-warm head. Hope this isn't the start of something that will keep me home on Wednesday!

Elegran Mon 10-Dec-18 10:04:01

Wish you were there too, Marmight

Why don't you organise something where you live now and invite us all? I'd be there - I can stay overnight in Bristol.

Marmight Mon 10-Dec-18 09:12:37

?Wish I was coming. I miss the Ed get togethers now I am a furriner! How about a Whatsap chat so I can see you pulling your crackers? ?

Jangran99 Mon 10-Dec-18 00:10:36
