As promised I spoke with Fiona, who owns and runs Serendipi-tea, little tearoom here in the village. She would be delighted to have us visit, and can cater for quite a few, perhaps up to 12 or perhaps more. The dates where she’s rather busy are Nov 8, Nov 16 and 17, Dec 1 and Dec 18, so those dates would need to be avoided.
From mid-Nov she can arrange a Christmassy afternoon tea if we so wished.
The afternoon teas cost £9.50 each and she can cater for gluten-free if required.
There is a train into the village on the Fife Circle line from Edinburgh and it’s about a 10 minute walk from the station (Glenrothes with Thornton) to Serendipi-tea, which is situated on Main St, opposite the church.
We’d need to book a date quite soon, just so she can mark us onto her calendar.

While on a visit to Scotland last week we stumbled across this gorgeous little tea room/restaurant. Even though we weren’t planning on stopping for lunch we were drawn by the beautiful facade of this lovely little gem.

zimaakq, what a lovely thing to say! I’ll pass your comments on to Fiona, Serendipi-tea’s owner, tomorrow when I’m there for the Book Group - (and more cake!) ??☕️☕️

Marelli Tue 13-Nov-18 21:08:37

Really looking forward to seeing everyone again next week. Unfortunately, Brunette10 won’t be able to come, but we’ll see her at the Xmas lunch in Edinburgh. ☺️

Marelli Thu 15-Nov-18 13:25:40

Do we want to have a Christmassy afternoon tea (mulled wine, etc) or standard? Can we have a vote, please, (so I can let her know)? ☺️

Elegran Thu 15-Nov-18 13:44:35

I don't mind which, but I am not a fan of mulled wine so someone else can drink mine.

cascats Thu 15-Nov-18 13:52:48

No wine for me either as will be driving, but happy for someone else to have my share. As long as there is company and cake thats me happy grin

Marelli Thu 15-Nov-18 15:25:11

I think it’ll be non-alcoholic mulled wine. I’m very happy with company and cake, too ? (not keen on mulled wine, either).

Elegran Thu 15-Nov-18 15:55:15

It just mucks up good wine, as far as I am concerned.

Marelli Tue 20-Nov-18 17:44:40

See you all tomorrow at 2pm. Katek can't make it but we shall see her next month at the Xmas lunch in Edinburgh. ??

Morning everyone, I hope you have a good Afternoon Tea today in Thornton along with a good chat. Sorry can't make it but will see you soon - Enjoy!

Is Cascats coming by car or by bus/train? I have some wool for her mother, some of it on cones. If she is not bringing the car I will only bring half of it.

cascats Wed 21-Nov-18 09:43:57

By car Elegran, and thank you for the wool, mum is going to be so chuffed. See you this afternoon, travel safely, its very windy here.

Elegran Wed 21-Nov-18 09:52:12

The bag with the wool in will be like a sail - I hope I'm not blown to Cupar.

Someone on GN was looking for small amounts of 4 ply. As some of the wool I've found is in such tiny amounts they are no use for knitting anything bigger than doll's socks, I must check how thick it is.

Cascats A link for your mother that appeared by coincidence(?) on Facebook. www.atlasobscura.com/articles/knitting-spies Maybe she should join MI6?

callgirl1 Wed 21-Nov-18 17:14:17

I hope you all had a lovely afternoon tea, wish I could have joined you.

Marelli Wed 21-Nov-18 17:44:01

We had a lovely meetup and a delicious tea ?! Lots of blethering about all sorts of things. Thanks to everyone for coming.
callgirl1, I really wish you could've been here, too. ?

cascats Wed 21-Nov-18 17:59:37

It was a very nice relaxed afternoon. Thanks to Marelli for the idea and organising it for us.

Elegran Wed 21-Nov-18 18:32:00

A very nice afternoon tea. Thank you Marelli (and Serendipi-Tea)

callgirl1 Wed 21-Nov-18 21:56:15

I`d be there in a shot Marelli, if the train fares weren`t so bloomin`steep!

Elegran Wed 21-Nov-18 22:21:10

Are the bus fares better? I could travel free by bus anywhere in Scotland, though not over the border.

besottedgran Thu 22-Nov-18 06:47:11

The afternoon meet up at Serendipi-tea was great and it was lovely to see everyone and meet new (to me) faces! Thank you, Marelli!

Jane10 Thu 22-Nov-18 09:47:45

Oh. It's sounds like you had a lovely time. It would have been so good to have been able to join you all but I was on DGS duty.

callgirl1 Thu 22-Nov-18 16:22:53

Elegran, it would take a while to get up there on a bus!
