Baubles and I are meeting for coffee, or perhaps early lunch at the Art Gallery on the Mound on 1st March (a Friday). Who would like to join us?

Jane10 Sun 17-Feb-19 21:04:56

Aizle?

Marelli Sun 17-Feb-19 21:31:30

Jane10, I think that's the best idea - having a bar meal at the Old Waverley. Baubles had a look at the bar menu and says they do things like baked potatoes, sandwiches, etc - would that would be OK for us?
weenanni59, it would be lovely to have you join us. ?
That makes 8 of us now.
I'll give it another day, then book us a table. I'm sure we can add a few more if anyone else would like to come.

Lickety spit! Its all done. smile

The Old Waverley, (opposite the station steps) where we are thinking of going on 1st March, has given us a good meal whenever we have been there. www.oldwaverley.co.uk/cranstons-restaurant.html They are reviewed on Tripadvisor www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g186525-d191450-Reviews-The_Old_Waverley_Hotel-Edinburgh_Scotland.html
Others may have other suggestions.

A bar lunch suits me too, Marelli.

oldgoat Sun 17-Feb-19 22:21:22

OH and I are spending a few days in Berwick at the end of February and due to go home on the 1st March so I'll see if I can work out a way to come and join you at Cranstons. Please can you pencil me in and I'll confirm in a day or two.

Marydoll Sun 17-Feb-19 22:36:56

It would be lovely to see you, OldGoat.?

Jangran99 Sun 17-Feb-19 22:48:18

They are going to have to extend the bar! Count me in girls, a bar lunch will be fine by me, a blether and good company!

cascats Sun 17-Feb-19 23:15:58

Sorry Forrage and Chatter was for MarionH, but expect you all realised that anyway ! grin.

Marelli Sun 17-Feb-19 23:23:09

MarionHalcombe there is always Hendersons in Hanover street. It's not posh but relaxed and the food is lovely and all vegetarian. There is wine, waiter service and often live music in the evenings.

Jane10 Mon 18-Feb-19 08:23:20

I meant Aizle for*MarionHalcombe*.
Given those numbers I suspect that a bar lunch might be pushing it for the hotel. They're very helpful but I bet they'd find it easier to serve us in the dining room.

Marydoll Mon 18-Feb-19 08:32:27

I did like the bar menu. Do you think they would serve bar lunches, but give us the use of the dining room?

Jane10 Mon 18-Feb-19 08:39:23

Worth asking.

Jane10 Mon 18-Feb-19 08:39:56

This has certainly grown arms and legs Marelli!

Marelli Mon 18-Feb-19 09:16:29

I'll phone them this morning and what they can do for us.

Marelli Mon 18-Feb-19 09:49:55

Have just phoned them. They don't take bookings for bar meals, unfortunately, so it would be down to us taking a chance on finding a space for us all. Doubt if that would work out.
Will I book us a table in the restaurant - what do you all think?

Katek Mon 18-Feb-19 10:09:18

I’m soooo jealous! B..... shoulder!! Have a pudding for me ?

Marydoll Mon 18-Feb-19 10:12:22

Hope you are feeling a bit better KateK flowers

Marydoll Mon 18-Feb-19 10:12:57

Good idea Marelli and thanks for organising!

Jane10 Mon 18-Feb-19 10:42:26

Yes Marelli just do it! The lunch menu is always nice and not expensive.
