Just seen on Yahoo that the police have found a body at her grandmothers house and are lookimg for the grandmothers boyfriend. What a terrible world we live in

whenim64 Fri 10-Aug-12 17:21:32

Oh, how terrible! The poor child. Why are some people so cruel to children?

Annobel Fri 10-Aug-12 17:26:39

It was becoming obvious that he was a suspect. But what a dreadful outcome.

absentgrana Fri 10-Aug-12 17:28:26

So predictable and so sad.

greenmossgiel Fri 10-Aug-12 17:36:08

How can that awful person go on television/radio and say how much that child meant to him? That's often the way - and I think perhaps the police use this as a method of discovering the perpetrator. That poor little girl.

Horrendous

I did notice when he was talking about her he was talking in the past tense. - "I loved her like my own" I gather Tia lived with her grandmother so she came to harm in the place where she should have been safest.

green the police do put suspects in front of TV cameras. One lifer I worked with went on TV and also did a reconstruction, and admitted later that he knew he had been discovered as soon as the CID told him he could help with the TV appeal, as he was last to see the child. Heartless b*****d!

She didn't live with her grandmother all the time, and that night the grandmother was away, so she was in the house alone with Hazell. What were her parents thinking?

Elegran Fri 10-Aug-12 18:02:26

In 2002 I watched Ian Huntley on TV while they were still looking for the murderer of those two little girls in soham and instantly felt that he was somehow suspect - he was full of a kind of suppressed excitement/anxiety. I was not surprised when he was arrested and convicted.

Annobel Fri 10-Aug-12 18:22:00

He had previously been the mother's boyfriend, according to one report I read so goodness knows what had been going on.

greenmossgiel Fri 10-Aug-12 18:41:12

And now he's nowhere to be found......angry

johanna Fri 10-Aug-12 18:54:35

Yes elegran , I remember that too.
And do you also remember when Sky News ( I think it was Sky ), had a quick talk to Maxine Carr one lunchtime?
She held up a " thank you card " sent to her by one of the girls?
This was to illustrate what a nice girl she was. WAS . Maxine Carr used the past tense!!!!!
It still took them weeks.

At least they have have been a little quicker now.

tanith Fri 10-Aug-12 19:01:59

If the police suspected him why the heck is he now 'missing', surely they should of at least kept an 'eye' on the man.. and why did it take a week to search the grandmothers house? I don't understand it but its horrendous all the same..

glammanana Fri 10-Aug-12 19:02:44

There is an all ports alert for him according to Sky lets hope they get the B...... before some of the neighbours do,why was he not watched for goodness sake.Horrible horrible outcome but as said it did look this was the outcome when he was interviewed yesterday. How tragic for the family.

merlotgran Fri 10-Aug-12 19:08:24

As soon as I saw the grandmother's boyfriend, memories of Ian Huntley came flooding back. I live a few miles from Soham and taught at the secondary school where he was a caretaker. It's to Soham's credit that the community has moved on so well from such a horrible crime. How on earth can children be protected from monsters who they think they can trust, especially when, in Tia's case, a family member is linked? The Shannon Matthews case in Dewsbury also springs to mind. Words can't describe what I think about that man at the moment.

harrigran Fri 10-Aug-12 19:30:39

I doubt that they will find him alive, he would be too much of a coward to want to go to prison.

Pete Fri 10-Aug-12 19:47:47

He will get whats coming to him....one way or another.

glassortwo Fri 10-Aug-12 19:53:27

All I can think of is that poor little soul sad

HildaW Fri 10-Aug-12 20:07:59

Such a beautiful looking girl, but it worried me that all her photos were obviously taken from web-cams.

Notsogrand Fri 10-Aug-12 20:13:16

Poor Tia sad

greenmossgiel Fri 10-Aug-12 20:39:34

Is that right, HildaW - were they all web-cams? I noticed that the school photo showed her as an ordinary young girl, but the other ones were more 'prettified' up.

nanaej Fri 10-Aug-12 20:45:25

hilda the photo on the T-shirt campaign was her primary school photo. Such a tragic situation. Sadly I suspect her body could have been hidden in a loft or floor space but it does seem a bit of a failure not to have kept the 'step grandad' under surveillance as I am sure he was a prime suspect.

gracesmum Fri 10-Aug-12 20:52:00

It just beggars belief does it not? All this fuss about CRBs for volunteers for sports and youth clubs and so often is is someone close to home.
I shouldn't be judgemental, but theman had had a relationship with the Mum(?) then with the Gran who is herself only 47 - all of this screams dysfunctional family to me.

glassortwo Fri 10-Aug-12 20:55:20

The Met Police had searched the home three times previous to finding Tia.
