I can't believe how scared the poor souls are at the moment being held hostage by 'perceived' ISIS sympathiser/sympathisers. The only knowledge at the moment is a black flag with white Arabic writing on it is being displayed by a person/persons with a gun.

Up to 20 people are being held hostage in a Lindt chocolate cafe and heaven knows how frightened they must be knowing the depths such people will go to .

I hope events don't take a turn for the worse, it could easily go belly up.

What a world!

We were on holiday in Australia and were flying home on Monday night when the siege was ongoing. We stayed at a Hotel very near to the cafe and saw lots of police and blocked roads. Fortunately we were able to get to the airport and the flight was not disrupted...but we are devastated for those affected by this. Gracesgran I hope your family are safe and well with you and to everyone else with family overseas big hugs.

I have been having a wonderful time with them Alygran. Out at a local attraction today and walked further than I have for ages (and faster) so I am now very stiff and very tired. We ended the day with a visit to Santa who was absolutely wonderful. The GCs loved meeting him too. We told him (well Granny did actually) that the children were a little worried that he would know they were not in Australia but at home with Granny and he was great. He explained that he gets to Australian earlier but that he would certainly remember where the were this year when he flew over our area. He checked if we had a chimney or if he needed his magic key and was an excellent Santa.

My four year old grandson has had us in stitches as he loves to perform. Even his "thank you so much Santa" as we left had us chuckling.

As if the siege wasn't enough sadness, now it seems eight children have been found dead in a house in Northern Queensland sad

It just seems to get worse.
