PRINTMISS Tue 30-Jun-15 14:53:57

I do not understand why it is that the the fanatics manage to get away with such dreadful things in THIS country, preaching hate, chanting hate, ENJOYING hate, and now fear that it might come to exercising that hate. I rather feel sometimes that we should treat them in the same way in which we would be treated if we did similar things in countries where they hold control, but that makes them martyrs doesn't it.
This is not something which has just happened, though, is it? I remember way back in the 1970's where we used to live, posters proclaiming that Islam would rule the world appeared on every available space. No demonstrations, they did not then have the power (if that is what it is). Probably fanatics again, because I should like to believe (and hope) that the Muslim community would rather live in harmony than at war with the people whose country they share. I am sure that statement will get some rather stinging replies, but we can dream.

I also think that the internet is playing it's part in all this. I love the internet, but it has it's dark side.

Good points Tegan.

I am wondering who is in charge of this organisation.

According to Sky news today, groups operate in say cells of 5, with one cell not knowing about other cells.
It is only coordinated higher up in the organisation.

Where is the hate happening Printmiss. In mosques?

soontobe Tue 30-Jun-15 17:11:40

I really think that peace loving muslims in this country need to speak out loud and fast at this point.

petra Tue 30-Jun-15 17:16:32

Soontobe. Well it's not your local Sainsbury, is it. It's in the Mosques and madrases (sp) That's an Islamic school, Soontobe.

I suspect that I am not alone in knowing virtually nothing about all of this. If I am alone, then apologies.

TerriBull Tue 30-Jun-15 17:37:36

It does happen in SOME mosques and madrasers - Channel 4 Dispatches did a programme a while back with under cover filming of bile fueled speeches advocating violence against "kuffars" or whatever it is they like to label non Muslims usual sort of benevolent sentiments "throw gays of mountains" "Jews look like pigs" "Christians like monkeys" and on and on. I can't imagine a priest/vicar/rabbi getting away with such rhetoric.

Of course it has to be said that not all mosques are spewing out that sort of rubbish, some will be doing their up most to counteract it, but how can us the lay people know what percentage of mosques go down that route.

durhamjen Tue 30-Jun-15 17:38:44

Isn't putting a youtube video on here from 2012 also trying to inflame things?

petra Tue 30-Jun-15 18:23:16

Soontobe. I sometimes wish i didn't read/see/listen to so much stuff. I wish I could live in a bubble. Then I wouldn't get so angry.

Iam64 Tue 30-Jun-15 18:37:19

Does it matter what year it's from durhamjen?

soontobe Tue 30-Jun-15 18:50:26

I have the philosphy of helping those in my family, then street/village, then town etc.
Personally I think that that is the way we should be, but I could be wrong in that. But it seems logical to me.

But now ISIL is coming nearer. Someone from a couple of towns away was killed in Tunisia. I dont know him at all but it affaest the area in which I volunteer.

So now I am reading up about it. But still I am not looking at pictures. I dont need pictures. They dont "help" me at all, so I dont look.
And if the articles are too graphic in detail, but I dont read them either.

soontobe Tue 30-Jun-15 18:51:24

affects not affaest

durhamjen Tue 30-Jun-15 18:55:25

The post gives the impression that it is happening now, that's all, Iam.

soontobe Tue 30-Jun-15 18:55:46

That is not to mean that I dont pray, and pray with others, about other areas and people.

durhamjen Tue 30-Jun-15 19:25:40

This is what is happening now or has happened this year.
I find the numbers quite shocking.

blogs.channel4.com/factcheck/factcheck-britain-pulling-weight-fight/21138

grumppa Tue 30-Jun-15 20:14:52

The shocking thing about the numbers is the amount of hardware IS must have at its disposal.

durhamjen Tue 30-Jun-15 20:18:38

98 tanks?

rosesarered Tue 30-Jun-15 20:20:28

Yes Grumppa, agreed, and a lot of it captured US armoury from the Iraqi army when they ran away.

Ana Tue 30-Jun-15 20:22:15

Not just tanks, durhamjen...hmm

durhamjen Tue 30-Jun-15 20:25:28

I thought it was Russian, roses.

Not just tanks, but what about the number of buildings destroyed as well?

Look at the number of flights and the number of hits. The Brits are rubbish.

Ana Tue 30-Jun-15 20:30:08

Yes, that does seem to be your general opinion, durhamjen.
