As jinglbellsfrocks had the last word in the last thread about Jermy Corbyn, I am starting a new one.

Do you think that the election of Jeremy Corbyn has scuppered Labour's chances of winning the next election or has it revitalised the party?

durhamjen Sun 27-Sept-15 15:29:04

JC was the first true socialist, over two thousand years ago.

MargaretX Sun 27-Sept-15 15:34:26

I watched him with Andrew Marr this morning. He did very well and didn't let Andrew Marr push him into a corner. Its hard for me not to like him-he reminds me of my brother who died 12 years ago, who was a staunch socialist and must have been about the same age as Corbyn is now.

I was also a socialist when young and I suppose I still am but I hope he doesn't take Britain out of Europe, and out of NATO as I am not so sure he knows what we would have instead

Good. You at least think he can do some wrong[Jeremy Corbyn]. It would actually be nice if you said so once in a while.
Gracesgran and whitewave manage to do that.
{I am not going to go into specifics in case you might want to turn it into one of those games].
And you think that the John behaviour was wrong. Good again.
A more balanced view of what you think would actually make your views appear not so rigid I think.

This is excellent news.

Who are you talking to, soon, in your last comment?

durhamjen Sun 27-Sept-15 16:10:41

Corbyn has never said he wants to take Britain out of Europe.

All I said was that JC was the first true socialist, and it was Ab and me that you asked.

If you think that Jesus Christ was wrong being a true socialist, then I doubt your religious fervour.

Who said that they think the John behaviour was wrong?
Can't see that anywhere.

soontobe Sun 27-Sept-15 16:26:55

I have not been talking about Jesus Christ at all.

soontobe Sun 27-Sept-15 16:28:32

I am not getting into anything either.

Anya Sun 27-Sept-15 19:04:37

Just watching the news.

Remind me, who is the leader of the Labour Party - Jeremy Corbyn or Len McClusky? confused

rosequartz Sun 27-Sept-15 19:10:08

Roseq, how important do you think health and education are?

Very important indeed, but apparently, in political circles, not the 'top jobs'

Not my definition:
n the UK, tradition holds that the top three Ministers after the Prime Minister are the Chancellor, Foreign Secretary and Home Secretary. In that order these 4 positions are referred to as the Great Offices of State, the most prestigious positions in government

Anniebach Sun 27-Sept-15 19:12:17

Corbyn is Anya, you are posting on a thread titled - Corbyn elected

rosequartz Sun 27-Sept-15 19:13:05

Business not important, either, Anniebach
I didn't say it wasn't, djen
Just not a 'top job' apparently.

Anyway, I thought 'business' was a dirty word with some on the extreme left
You know, dreadful capitalism and all that confused

Ana Sun 27-Sept-15 19:14:16

Anya, we need an 'irony' emoticon! grin

rosequartz Sun 27-Sept-15 19:17:57

Yes, but many people still wouldn't get it grin

Anniebach Sun 27-Sept-15 19:18:46

Rosequartz, you seem very concerned with how things are viewed in political circles ,

rosequartz Sun 27-Sept-15 19:26:22

Me? I am not the political animal on here grin

Who am I to say which job is 'more top' than another? It is what it is as they say, I can't change it

In the interests of fairness here is a link from the Independent:
Note - not the Guardian or the Mail shock

Anniebach Sun 27-Sept-15 19:32:36

Defind in the 19th century ? We had the death penalty, women couldn't vote, children worked in coal mines in the 19th century, we didn't have the NHS in the 19th century and education was not available to all in the 19th century

rosequartz Sun 27-Sept-15 19:35:43

Defind in the 19th century (but not by me!)
Well, yes, worth a rethink
And I don't think the Leader of the Opposition can change it all by himself, so perhaps he can suggest it to the rest of Parliament if he thinks it needs updating.
But, as I said, it is the status quo

Gracesgran Sun 27-Sept-15 19:44:23

16:05:58 Jen that is looking good.

durhamjen Sun 27-Sept-15 20:22:57

Here's something else that looks good, Gracesgran.

revolutionarysocialismuk.wordpress.com/2015/09/27/labour-streets-ahead-tories-battered-after-just-2-weeks-in-latest-ipsos-mori-poll/

It all depends on who is interpreting that Ipsos Mori poll.

Whose status quo, roseq? When you consider all the important topics in the news, you will find that the shadow cabinet has women as spokespersons in education, health, business, defence, environment, energy, international development, law, transport, Wales, women and equalities, and the chief whip.

They are all important to me and many other people in the country. Note I am not speaking for good working people.

Ana Sun 27-Sept-15 20:33:57

Oh, not working class now, dj? Which you were this afternoon...

Ana Sun 27-Sept-15 20:42:20

Oh I see, misread that - you are speaking for good working class people...just not good working people. confused

Anniebach Sun 27-Sept-15 20:54:01

Rosequartz, it isn't a law , no more than the wearing of top hats were always worn in the house untill Keir Hardie turned up in a cloth cap, I am not a person who thinks parliment should be the same now as in the 19th century , you do,

rosesarered Sun 27-Sept-15 21:50:59

Either 'Corby' will have to change his views ( will he?) or the majority of Labour MP's will, which is the more likely?!

Anya Sun 27-Sept-15 22:10:51

Why do I sense that McClusky has Corbyn by the short and curlies over a barrel.

Anya Sun 27-Sept-15 22:13:26

McCluskey - just spotted the correct spelling on the news (more like McScruffy)
