Watching the news and there have been 2 separate incidents in Paris (one explosion near a football ground and one shoot out at a restaurant.). 4 dead so far. So awful. What is happening?

rosesarered Sun 15-Nov-15 12:31:34

What 'other' extremists are we talking about then anniebach It's quite obvious you knew very well what extremists meant, I thought your post about the little drowned boy was shameful.

Anniebach Sun 15-Nov-15 12:35:39

Did you rosesarered? You mean yet another inappropriate post , oh dear , what would we do without you patrolling the board

How do you know my definition of extremists ? mind reading a hobby ?

Anya Sun 15-Nov-15 12:38:10

In the interest of accuracy and the much publicised picture of the little bit who drowned, his mother and brother (aged about 5) also drowned, so 'parent' in the singular please AB

I'm not prepared to stand up with those who think doing nothing is an option. The Kurds, both men and woman, are fighting a battle against Daesh with one hand tied behind their back, apart from a few air strikes to back them up. It's as if the world is prepared to let someone else deal with the problem.

A united response, perhaps even with Russia on board, is needed.

rosesarered Sun 15-Nov-15 12:38:25

The only reason that I don't ask HQ to delete your unpleasant post using the death of that little boy in order to 'twist' my words from my post is that I think everbody should read what you are prepared to say in support of your own arguments.

rosesarered Sun 15-Nov-15 12:39:01

That was to anniebach of course.

Anniebach Sun 15-Nov-15 12:39:55

Ask for it to be removed rosesarered , I do not regret saying it

Anya Sun 15-Nov-15 12:39:57

roses I really wouldn't respond to posts like that last one from you-know- who.

Anniebach Sun 15-Nov-15 12:44:14

Anya, what a disappointment, I thought you a fair poster , my name is Annie not - you know who

rosesarered Sun 15-Nov-15 12:45:19

You are right Anya and I have said all I am prepared to say about it now.

tigger Sun 15-Nov-15 12:46:49

Good rosesarered. Enough, Enough Enough. End of now please. Isn't the situation bad enough without everyone falling out.

rosesarered Sun 15-Nov-15 12:53:50

Yes, tigger it certainly is, but some posts need calling 'time' on, and sometimes cannot go unchallenged.

grannylyn65 Sun 15-Nov-15 12:57:14

Isn't there enough horror and grief without infighting?

Anniebach Sun 15-Nov-15 12:58:39

And I expect the moderators to do this not a poster

grannylyn65 Sun 15-Nov-15 13:32:09

They have the weekend off !

Anniebach Sun 15-Nov-15 13:42:12

They certainly have a stand in patrolling

JessM Sun 15-Nov-15 14:09:04

Mamark this country did not "allow" mass immigration it went out to encourage it in the 50s and 60s in order to keep country running e.g. NHS, London Transport. Also many, many thousands of Irish construction workers were imported to build our motorways etc. Many of them were exploited badly and still suffer to this day (as in poor health, no pension).
Wondering what is the link in your mind between immigration and terrorism.

Anya Sun 15-Nov-15 14:35:33

I think the link between immigration and terrorism, or rather immigrants and terrorists is that, as an example, all four 7/7 bombers were descendants of immigrants - at least fairly recent immigrants.

This is not to say the link is valid as the overwhelming majority of the millions of immigrants in this country are law abiding and peaceful.

LaraGransnet (GNHQ) Sun 15-Nov-15 14:37:51

Hello. Obviously everyone's entitled to their opinion and debates/arguments etc are fine - it's a horrible incident that's going to stir up much emotion - but we would ask that you don't get personal please.

Marmark1 Sun 15-Nov-15 16:32:24

Mass immigration is still happening. They cannot possibly know who is coming here, absolutely impossible.

whitewave Sun 15-Nov-15 16:39:58

Not many coming here mar France, Germany,Sweden etc have a much bigger problem. It is obvious really that IS would use the migrants to penetrate.

Anniebach Sun 15-Nov-15 17:15:38

Seems some of those involved were French

whitewave Sun 15-Nov-15 17:17:48

Ues annie the penetrators will need a base

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 15-Nov-15 17:19:20

Yes. Many French Muslims have a hard time of it. The headscarf thing in schools didn't help either.

Lara the only way to not sometimes get personal on something like this is to not post at all. We are real people talking to real people. Don't expect too much of us.

Jane10 Sun 15-Nov-15 17:21:16

Good point jings. We are just people and we're upset about it all. Bound to be some letting off steam and getting ratty with others.

TriciaF Sun 15-Nov-15 17:42:04

We live in France, been here 14 years and have become attached to the country and its people.
There's been a very big problem for many years with immigrants from N. African countries, which were french colonies. Just look up the France - Algerian war.
Between 1 in 7 and 1 in 10 of the population are Muslim, who are mostly observant and don't integrate. Even in our tiny departmental capital, pop 22,000, there's a Muslim ghetto. The mosque was set on fire a few months ago.
It seems that France has been targeted, as the start of their European progress, by the various branches of Deash because of this.
I've no idea what the answer is, but it helps to know some history.
eg Syria became independent in 1946 following a period of french occupation since 1917.
