All talked about, but kept within guidelines.

Why allow the thugs and killers to dictate what we do?

Anniebach Sun 15-Nov-15 12:28:58

Jingle , there is no technology which can save children in a war zone ,

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 15-Nov-15 12:30:23

Yes there is. How do think they killed Jihadi John and not someone's grandad?

Anniebach Sun 15-Nov-15 12:37:56

Jingle, in war people are not picked off one by one , bombing a country kills innocent people

LullyDully Sun 15-Nov-15 12:49:07

Sadly IS is a very strong, very rich organisation.

They have millions of pounds from oil and other sources. They have lots of radicalized foot soldiers who are ready to die without question.

They have many very bright, sophisticated, evil members and have no regard for humanity, even their own followers.

Another big worry to me is they understand our way of life and what makes us tick. Many come from within us.

Very hard to conquer as they are, without factions growing up within their ranks who stand again them. Very much like the Hydra of Greek myth. Cut one head off and two grow!!!!!

The attacks have left me feeling pessimistic....sorry.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 15-Nov-15 13:12:53

Well they picked him off pretty well ab.

Anniebach Sun 15-Nov-15 13:13:12

I agree LullyDully, I too feel pessimistic , plus as much as we hate these horrors we also know violence breeds violence

Anniebach Sun 15-Nov-15 13:15:02

Yes Jingle, but a war cannot be fought by picking off one by one can it?

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 15-Nov-15 13:15:02

What? Like it did against the Nazis? Some things are necessary.

Anniebach Sun 15-Nov-15 13:16:08

Then we must accept we will bomb children Jingle

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 15-Nov-15 13:16:23

I am going out to join the hordes round the shops. Praise the Lord. Anything's better than the company of some people.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 15-Nov-15 13:17:26

You sit in your little corner of Wales and let others defend your grandkids.

rosesarered Sun 15-Nov-15 13:35:53

Amen to that.

Anniebach Sun 15-Nov-15 13:40:30

Jingle, my grandson works in London, and your comment was unkind and uncalled for. I am not going to join the 'let's blast them off the earth mob' so accept it. Hatred breeds hatred, violence breeds violence - fact

Because one does not scream bomb the buggers doesn't mean one isn't devastated by the horror in Paris or doesn't weep for those who died or who are left to grieve.

I will not join the hysteria

Tegan Sun 15-Nov-15 16:30:39

I can't see a solution to this. These people seem to want us to go back to the dark ages and yet are using everything they can from our time and our culture to achieve that. Two faced, cowardly [systematically executing people in wheelchairs; how can one human being do that to another?]. I feel numb and helpless at this moment in time and [I'm having to be honest here] feeling extreme hatred for the people who perpetrate this. They threaten everything that I value and hold dear sad.

rosesarered Sun 15-Nov-15 16:33:20

I think that a lot of us are feeling the same Tegan

Ana Sun 15-Nov-15 16:58:47

Yes. Much good will weeping do anyone...

Anniebach Sun 15-Nov-15 17:08:52

Weeping will not help anyone, but it is natural reaction to human suffering - well for many it Is, I accept not for all

Anniebach Sun 15-Nov-15 17:13:55

Tegan, it can be done by dehumanising people, just as happened to the Jews, to the black S A, hatred is such a strong emotion and is taught , no one is born full of hate

granjura Sun 15-Nov-15 20:10:52

Listen to Tony Benn, already in 1992 - about how the West armed Saddam

Now I know many will find this very hard- but British soldiers in WW2 war were also 'brain-washed' to dehumanise German civilians by calling them 'Gerry' - the only way they could bomb large cities like Dresden (knowing deep down that most of the dead would be children and families, and the elderly, and not soldiers or Government).

Anniebach Sun 15-Nov-15 20:37:19

And we are now reaping the whirlwind

JamJar1 Sun 15-Nov-15 20:40:43

My goodness I doubt anyone would find it very hard to digest granjura but the British soldiers also knew bombs were raining down on their own children, families and the elderly and had been for a considerable time.

Ana Sun 15-Nov-15 20:44:20

Yes, I'm not sure how naive some on here think we are, or why.

We have to be realistic, not sit around weeping and wringing our hands about man's inhumanity to man.

rosesarered Sun 15-Nov-15 20:49:31

And hoping it will go away.....

Alea Sun 15-Nov-15 20:56:21

I am sorry but this is tosh and I speak as the daughter and DIL of decorated ex-servicemen. In the latter case, we are talking MC and Legion d'Honneur.
In WWI Germans were referred to as 'the Hun", in WWII, the term "Gerry/Jerry" was in common parlance among civilians as well to help boost morale boost belittling the enemy in our market nods.
