Should we bomb De-ash/ISIS in Syria?

Blair took us into the Iraq war (to keep his American allies happy) and the Middle East was de-stabilised.
Its even more unstable and Cameron seems keen to send bombers there, presumably to keep his EU allies happy (given his negotiations...).
ISIS/DEA-SH thrive on chaos. They are a death cult aimed at hastening the end of the world. (Day of Judgement, Islam style).
Given the chaos in Syria and Iraq with all the different factions on the ground and Russia joining the throng in the air I cannot see why joining in would be either helpful or wise.
The poor civilians on the ground are now in fear of Assad, De-ash/ISIS and the bombs.
Cameron's arguments are thin.
Here are some more arguments on the other side voxpoliticalonline.com/2015/11/27/how-many-innocents-will-die-because-of-right-wing-labours-petulance/
Your MP will be heading back to their constituency to think about this over the weekend.
If you are against the bombing please, please write to your MP.
You can use this very easy site. You just type in your postcode and the site will ensure that your MP gets your email. They will be getting lots of emails on the subject so there is no need to be long-winded, so it's a 5 minute task. www.writetothem.com

I agree with him when he says the international community failed to come to the aid of the Syrian democrats. We should have acted then.

POGS Hilary Benn didn't say anything about concerns that the bombing would be illegal without UN authorisation. He said:-

"They have to come up with an overall plan, which they have not done. I think the focus now is finding a peaceful solution to the civil war."

Actually gj that video was posted by durhamjen on Tuesday after I posted about him. He wrote an article for the Guardian that I gave a link to in another thread.

I saw this map of Syria that shows the territory held by the various groups. Thought others would find it interesting. Idlib is where last Sunday, Russian air strikes destroyed a bakery set up by a humanitarian aid organisation. I posted about this attack before. 45000 displaced Syrians are in Idlib. 7 trucks of humanitarian supplies were also destroyed in the same attack. Idlib is in an area held by Syrians fighting Assad. Da-esh is not in that area.

Thanks Wilma- I missed it. Only saw it today and I think he is so right.

If you want to kill a drunken crazy hornets nest- you better be sure of what you are doing- or you'll disperse the lot and they will be a lot more dangerous then.

I do hope that those who have not listened to him and what he has to say, will take the time and trouble to do so.

Time will tell

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 04-Dec-15 16:50:56

gj his approach took me back a bit when I first read the Guardian article and then realised he was right, especially when Assad controls so little territory than previously. But then although I agreed with Nicolas Henin, I also heard a speaker explaining the difficulties for many of the Syrian rebels who would effectively be asked to fight on two fronts - Assad and Daesh.

There is no simple solution and it's all academic now the air strikes have started.

Assad says it is illegal, as neither he nor the UN have given permission for this.

Ana Tue 08-Dec-15 19:42:24

Some of the comments in response to the article are vile.

Maybe durhamjen agrees with them.

I'm actually not sure whether that should be allowed to stay up.

I do wonder how people source these unpleasant sites.

However, it's okay because Osborne says that Britain has got its mojo back.

Anniebach Tue 08-Dec-15 22:59:39

That Tory MP beat it to it,- we must vote to bomb , we need to be back on the world stage , what a reason to bomb

An Amnesty report on how IS get their arms. The actual report is 16 pages long, but this says from 25 different countries.

This I can believe fully and confirms by beliefs

This is the government response to an online petition about the Iraq war.

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/108495?reveal_response=yes#response-threshold

Anyone else think that the response means the government is covering its back?

By the way, the petition is still open to be signed.

Anniebach Wed 09-Dec-15 21:58:36

Yes I think the same

durhamjen Thu 10-Dec-15 17:42:28
