We have a newly adopted grandchild, who came with a very rare & unusual Christian name. Because of the child's age it is too late to change it and there are always some very strange looks when people need to know what it is. Also, in public, it could identify the child to it's former family, so we have to be very careful when calling the name out. I'm not even allowed to say what sex the child is, in case someone recognises me on Gransnet!
Phoebes I have to confess that with social workers there is a tendency to respond in a similar way when you encounter some of the more bizarrely named children.
I do wish parents would think about the teasing their children will suffer from when they name them! That poor child called North West and as for Saint - the mind boggles! I can't help feeling these names say a lot more about the parents than the children!
