Cameron's Christmas message

Having read the headline perhaps Cameron can reflect on Christian values of faith, hope and charity and look to his conscience for guidance concerning the more unfortunate people both at home and abroad! Where is kindness, support and understanding in government policy? Is it really Christian to see people in poverty, the NHS a shambles whilst our leaders are revelling in their million £ homes and tasting all the good things life has to offer. Perhaps he thinks that charity begins in his home and doesn't extend further than his circle mates.

Anyway, my Christmas message is to help and support all those who are less well off than ourselves in whatever small way we can. Happy Christmas all and please forgive the grouch. (I'm an aetheist (spelling has deserted me on this Christmas eve) - I must be getting older!)

They know this Jrn, it is just a way to distract from the topic being discussed which is Cameron himself and his hypocrisy when spouting about Christian values

Anniebach Tue 05-Jan-16 23:44:48

Just so true Eloethan, but it does distract from the fact that the number in poverty and homeless is increasing . The best form of defence is attack!

Jen hope no homes have been flooded in you village

durhamjen Tue 05-Jan-16 23:44:42

Agreed, Eloethan.
We moved down to Hampshire once, living near Winchester.
We were not envious; we felt sorry for them having to work all the hours they did, some of our neighbours commuting to London every day, just to keep the lifestyle.
We moved back up North after three years of it. York was a very nice place to live for ten years. The Durham Dales are amazing, even in the rain. My granddaughter loves visiting from East Anglia, as she loves the view from my doorstep.

Anyway, this thread is about people's life chances, or lack of them, whatever Cameron promised them. It's about his lack of Christian charity towards those he is supposed to support.

The NHS is in an even worse state than it was when the thread was started.
Strikes next week.
The reason Oxford is mentioned is because of Cameron's hypocrisy, not because some of you live there.

People calling for more social justice, for a fairer distribution of wealth are often accused of envy. Except when they are well off. Then they are accused of being hypocritical or champagne socialists or "virtue signallers". It's a method of drawing attention away from troublesome issues by seeking to discredit the people who raise them.

I can see a river at the end of my street. It's not supposed to be there, though. Village flooded today.

nigglynellie Tue 05-Jan-16 21:03:37

Not by me!!!

Ana Tue 05-Jan-16 18:51:49

When were our opinions not? grin

rosesarered Tue 05-Jan-16 18:50:03

You could well be right (though it would be heartily denied.) ?

Ana Tue 05-Jan-16 18:46:25

The class divide?

rosesarered Tue 05-Jan-16 18:41:41

Must be something! ?

rosesarered Tue 05-Jan-16 18:40:52

Perhaps it's to do with wealth then?

Anniebach Tue 05-Jan-16 12:25:17

as a left winger who lives in a Welsh National Park, from my sofa I can look to my left and see a beautiful green valley, to my right the most beautiful mountain range , at the bottom of my garden a river where swans glide around , country lanes, green fields . Envy? not this rabid left winger grin

rosesarered Tue 05-Jan-16 11:38:30

Cameron is the MP for Witney, so as that, may write to councils about their decision making and the way they spend money, just as Corbyn may do with Islington.
This preoccupation with Oxfordshire has now reached laughable proportions for all us Gnetters who live there, from left leaners on this thread.
But, yes,it's a lovely place to live, is there an element of envy going on?

Didn't do any good, though.
This is not a left-wing rag, I do not think. In fact, being a local paper, it's probably owned by that American that owns the South Wales paper.
The same paper also has a link to the letters written by Cameron and the council response. If you want to read them and see what he really said, that is, and find out how he was being hypocritical.

Ana Mon 04-Jan-16 22:42:42

Tegan, how can my perfectly rational post be construed as 'leaping to his defence' and evidence that 'he can do no wrong' in my eyes?

No need to get so defensive.

Anniebach Mon 04-Jan-16 22:36:08

As PM he knew of the effect of the cut backs, this fuss he made could only be to impress his constituency that he was acting for it's good, just a big act , he was in PR and never misses a chance to put his talent ! Into action .

Tegan Mon 04-Jan-16 22:24:52

You mean just as the non Trotskyites constantly leap to his defence...can he do no wrong in your eyes??

Ana Mon 04-Jan-16 20:47:07

Cameron's still the MP for his constituency. I'm sure if he'd not raised a finger to try and save the local police station he'd be accused of 'letting down' his constituency by the same left-wing rag.

JessM Mon 04-Jan-16 20:34:52

I guess Oxfordshire matters because some of the population elected our chubby-faced PM. Who was recently mystified as to why a police station was being closed. And was remonstrating with the leader of the local council about the cutbacks in LA services. Did he never notice what Osborne was up to?

predilection

Ana Mon 04-Jan-16 20:12:40

Of course anyone can post whatever they wish within the forum rules (if they break those rules, of course the post can be deleted, as I'm sure you're aware, ab).

And anyone can disagree with posts. What's your problem, apart from a rather tiresome prediliction for sarcasm?

Anniebach Mon 04-Jan-16 19:58:16

And now a genuine apology for confusing Rosesarered with Ana, they do merge together

Anniebach Mon 04-Jan-16 19:56:21

I am so sorry Rosesarered, I thought anyone could post what they wished if within the forum rules, thank you for correcting me , how the forum could survive without your constant eagerness to advise is a worry

Ana Mon 04-Jan-16 19:46:55

Sorry, ab, it was dj who asked the question (and I can't imagine why you answered Elegran's post when it was obvious it wasn't addressed to you). You and dj do rather merge into one another, opinion-wise...

Ana Mon 04-Jan-16 19:42:05

How strange, then, that you should ask whether the people of Oxfordshire (around 666,000) is happy to have its NHS run by private companies, if it holds no interest for you...hmm
