There are a lot of people furious over this. It hasn't done the 'stay' Campaign any favours.

The subject's been raised on other threads, and yes as you say petra it's not done the Remain campaign any favours, especially now there's all this controversy about alleged tax avoidance!

Same thing happened during the Scottish Referendum. Westminster issued 'propaganda' for the 'NO' campaign to every household in Scotland, at UK wide taxpayers expense.

I was reading today that there is a General feel that Cameron etc are mishandling so much at the moment that the in vote may well be lost as a result of reaction to all the pigs ear. So people are saying that it might be better if they resign before the election in order to not muddy the waters.
I'm not sure on this one but can see what they are getting at.

No, I'm not sure either; would they only resign if there was a vote of no confidence in them; if they were to resign and there is no Government, ie we are awaiting a General Election, would a referendum called by the Government previously in fact be legal and could it go ahead? Probably not.

Well the idea is that the outers would take over then lose and have to resign and wed be then shot of the lot of them. All a bit far fetched but we can dream

It doesn't work like that.I doubt very much that Cameron will be resigning in any case, but even if he chose to, the Conservative Party simply elect another leader to be in his place.There would not be a General Election, whatever happens ,the next one will be in 2020.
I understand the government wanting to get it's message across to voters about the EU, but a tv message could have done just as well.
I really doubt that anything about expensive leaflet campaigns or any other reason will sway people one way or the other.

It's not a leaflet though, it's a flipping booklet!! I can't believe the amount of money it's cost! How on earth could it cost that much?!! Much as I support a conservative government, I am sadly coming to the conclusion that this one has a death wish! FGS, what next?!! I personally think this referendum was a batty idea in the first place! It should have been perfect obvious the division it was going to cause, a lot of people haven't got a clue, me included, what's best for this country till the end of time, so inevitably could use this vote to try and bring the government down. For me the whole exercise is little short of madness.

Am I the only one in the UK who is wondering about the cost? 27 million households I believe, and it costs £9.7m to produce, print and distribute. I wish I could do that for my business at 30p per copy or am I missing something? I assume that the recently sold off Royal Mail wont be handling them for nothing. If a company who supports staying in is underwriting the production costs this should be stated clearly. I dont have mine yet so cant fully comment on the content.

All this nonsense would never have happened if there wasn't permanent war inside the Tory party. And once the referendum is over don't for one minute think it will cease, unless of course they split.

I am please to get it and will be reading it. It has already prompted me to check if I am registered for a vote (just because you are registered for general elections, you may not be registered for the referendum.)

I'm playing devil's advocate here but does anyone wonder why no one is talking about the content? Could it be that what it says is not controversial? I did hear one expert, who was not political, say that everything stated as a fact was true and that other things were stated as opinions which could not be verified or discounted by either side.

I think it will be very interesting when the campaign proper starts and we hear what JC and co have to say. I look forward to the debate and hope the mud slinging stops and they are all clear about what is fact and what is conjecture.
