With apologies to those sick and tired of it?

whitewave Sat 14-May-16 08:47:59

It wasn't just Carney -he is just the spokesman. It was the whole of the Bank of England committee that put their names to the document.
Of course our little Brexiters know better.
John Major criticised the Brexiters and their tacky ukip type argument relating to immigration.

Granddaughter Sat 14-May-16 09:17:19

Can I please request we drop much of the snipping and concentrate on the the subject matter. Should we remain or leave.

On Thursday I was in Spain talking to several friends at an RBL meeting who when discharged from the forces retired to the Costa and put their savings in to buying a home.

They are all now worried about the future and what would happen to them, along with their health cover, the regulations around property ownership, their local IEE ID card and the value of their properties which are dropping fast in the A
None of them were confident they would be able to have enough equity to return to the UK and buy a house. With an estimated 400,000 + expats on the Costa alone it must be scary for them. If we had a huge reverse migration back to the UK could our housing infrastructure stand such a sudden strain. This was an aspect of leaving I had not even considered. Though I am getting far more worried about our disabling our economy, jobs and grandchildrens uncertain future prospects.

Makes me more determined to remain when I analyse the benefits, the flaws and uncertaincy of remaining or out.

Granddaughter Sat 14-May-16 09:22:26

Apologies for typo error's , should have reread before posting. My excuse we have three young grandchildren for breakfast and they are more important.

Enjoy the debate, but please don't go overboard with naughty remarks , sneering or not.

On a lighter not, if we do come out of the EU do you think we will be barred from the Eurovision Song Contest, that's a good enough reason for me to vote for Brexit grin ?

nigglynellie Sat 14-May-16 13:21:16

Me too!!!!!

Firecracker123 Sat 14-May-16 14:52:35

Granddaughter If we had a huge reverse migration from the UK we would have plenty of free housing stock, school places, quicker waiting times to see a doctor.

Jalima Sat 14-May-16 15:00:25

Probably not NanKate, Australia is in it again this year!
They won't let us leave, they like to give us 'nil points' grin

whitewave Sat 14-May-16 15:23:52

I see the mayor of Paris has said that she will be rolling out the red carpet to welcome London based companies to Paris if Britain votes to leave

petra Sat 14-May-16 16:03:23

Whitewave They might live to regret it when they start dealing with French bearocracy when setting up a business.
Do you think that the 60,000 + French nationals who live and work in London will relocate with them? I don't think so.

petra Sat 14-May-16 23:22:02

I picked this up on a Mumsnet thread on the referandum. For those of you who like reading 'stuff' this will get you really excited. Bing ( or any search engine of your choice) FCO 30/1048 1971.
For those of you who know from whence I am coming, give it a look, you never know, you might get hooked.

This is how to get votes. Well done, Jeremy Corbyn.

George Carey writing in the Daily Wail today.
"To follow the analogy of marriage and divorce there comes a time when such harm is taking place within the marriage that there is no choice but to end it.
But of course the relationship is not a marriage. It is a treaty which can be replaced by a better treaty"

durhamjen Sun 15-May-16 11:51:24

It can't be replaced by a better treaty if the divorce has already taken place.
In order to have a better treaty for all, we need to stay in.

petra Sun 15-May-16 11:57:17

We have Brexit, Bremain and now we have Brexodus ( George Carey) I like it.

durhamjen Sun 15-May-16 12:35:51

Just as long as we do not have Boris, who changes his mind as often as he changes his socks.

"Boris Johnson has been accused by the grandson of Sir Winston Churchill, the Conservative MP Sir Nicholas Soames, of “fundamentally dishonest gymnastics” for criticising a planned multibillion-pound trade deal between the US and the EU that he had previously lauded as “Churchillian” for its brilliance.

Soames, the MP for Mid Sussex, said Johnson’s change of position on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) was yet more evidence of his “complete lack of credibility and coherence” in arguing the economic case for Britain to leave the EU. "

durhamjen Sun 15-May-16 13:06:13

What do Brexiters think of Boris's comments about the EU and Hitler?

www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/may/15/boris-johnson-likens-eu-to-nazi-superstate

And what's the difference between Boris's mention of Hitler and Livingstone's?

Anniebach Sun 15-May-16 13:37:22

Boris is Tory and Ken is labour?

durhamjen Sun 15-May-16 13:39:44

That's probably enough for the Leave campaign.

Anniebach Sun 15-May-16 13:44:16

It will be Jen

durhamjen Sun 15-May-16 13:49:14

www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/may/15/battle-brexit-gordon-brown-boris-johnson

Just read this. Gordon Brown on form again, and he's written a book about the EU.

Ceesnan Sun 15-May-16 16:35:03

Whitewave who exactly were you referring to when you commented "Our little Brexiters"?,

whitewave Sun 15-May-16 17:05:18

Gove, Duncan Smith, Johnson, Patel, etc. Etc. Why?

whitewave Sun 15-May-16 17:22:50

IDS was very bitter and twisted over Carney and La Garde maintaining that they are not being unbiased -- um no ? He sounded very peeved. Might be because they are arguing for remain.

He couldn't name a major economic institution that backed Brexit.

Social protections under EU - IDS voted against every single one. How can the have-nots trust him? He sounded very unconvincing when questioned about this protection.

See the little Brexiters are still flogging the immigrant issue. So tacky. John Major said that they should be embarrassed and ashamed.

Love the way he is on the side of the "little people" when talking about Brexit, but spent the first 5years hammering them into the ground.

Anniebach Sun 15-May-16 17:27:35

With all the claims made I haven't changed my mind, but if I had been unsure I would made the decision to stay in based on Gordon Brown's speech and Jens link

Gracesgran Sun 15-May-16 17:32:32

Thanks for the Gordon Brown link Jen. I found it really interesting - of course he will probably not get as much coverage as Boris flaunting a pasty but it is good to read the articles about it.
