With apologies to those sick and tired of it?

@harrigran If it was a post on Gransnet which you think caused the message, I would definitely report it. I must admit that I've never heard of a security message lasting 24 hours. I would be amazed if a website such as Gransnet is 'infected', unless there's a problem with its security certificate. It wouldn't have come from any individual poster. Occasionally, it's possible to get spoof 'pop ups' which are actually advertising some kind of anti virus programme, firewall or computer 'cleaner'. It sounds very odd.

daphnedill Mon 30-May-16 20:43:03

PS. I don't get pop ups, because I've disabled them.

Jalima Mon 30-May-16 20:45:19

practical I am not going to open your link for reasons of security, so if you could post a precis it would be interesting.
Thanks.

Jalima Mon 30-May-16 20:47:01

harrigran I often have a message come up on my tablet telling me that there is a security problem with one link or another on GN. I usually just press the 'back' arrow.
It doesn't seem to happen on the pc.

daphnedill Mon 30-May-16 20:54:08

@Jalima

Do you you use the same browsers and versions of anti virus software on your tablet and PC?

I use Firefox on my PC and sometimes I can't open links or play videos, etc whereas I don't have any problems on my laptop, which has Chrome.

I don't have any Apple products, but my son says he has compatibility issues with his ipad. It's nothing evil, but something to do with how the various programs are configured.

I would definitely inform Gransnet.

daphnedill Mon 30-May-16 21:00:24

@Jalima

I don't blame you for not opening that link. I've been on the site before. Western Spring is a far right, white-supremacist online group.

practical Mon 30-May-16 21:02:44

Jalima just put The Cloudenhove kalergi plan in google search there is lots of information on it.

practical Mon 30-May-16 21:05:09

It's the first time I've been on that site I was just looking for this well known plan and clicked on that, I had never heard if the site

Lazigirl Mon 30-May-16 21:05:10

All ours are Apple and very occasionally compatibilty problems but no viruses.

“Why are we so afraid of Turkey?..... We would be crazy to reject Turkey”. - Boris Johnson, February 2007

“The single market is of considerable value to many UK companies and consumers”. - Boris Johnson, December 2012

“Most of our problems are not caused by Brussels. My ideal world is, we’re there, we’re in the EU, trying to make it better”. - Boris Johnson, May 2013

“Leaving would cause business uncertainty, while embroiling the Government for years in a fiddly process of negotiating new arrangements, so diverting energy from the real problems that have nothing to do with Europe”.- Boris Johnson, February 2016

I can understand why people think Boris is a chancer.

daphnedill Mon 30-May-16 21:20:17

@practical

I doubt if many people have heard of it, so I wouldn't really call it 'well known'. It would appear the white supremacist and neo-Nazi sites are using it to scare people about racial mixing.

I first came across it when I was reading about that nutjob who murdered nine black people in South Carolina. It was on his list of favourite websites.

practical Mon 30-May-16 22:02:56

daphnedill it is a link to that plan on most of the daily papers comments.

daphnedill Mon 30-May-16 22:28:00

Which daily papers?

Sorry, but the only people who are dragging up this plan are neo-Nazi, white supremacist nutters.

daphnedill Mon 30-May-16 22:29:44

...and some anti-Semites, some of whom are also neo-Nazi, white supremacist nutters.

The farming minister says that the birds and habitats directives would be got rid of if you vote to leave.
I want to keep them. I do not trust brexiters who do not believe in climate change.

Daphnedil
now you're asking! I will check tomorrow

As far as I remember, it is the same one and a recommended programme.
My tablet is still a source of mystery to me blush

daphnedill Mon 30-May-16 23:38:36

I sympathise. My laptop has Windows 10 on it and it mystifies me.

My ancient PC still has Windows 7 and I'm dreading the day it dies, because I feel comfortable with it, even if it is a bit slow.

I can't even use my phone properly!! :-(

(Sorry to be off topic, but if there really is a problem with Gransnet, the site owners need to know and to sort it.)

Jalima Mon 30-May-16 23:46:47

phone - phone? Is that the thing that sits in my bag, goes flat, is recharged then goes back into the depths of the bag again?

durhamjen Tue 31-May-16 00:07:04

I've got one of those as well. It's third hand, son's, then grandson's, now mine. I suppose I ought to charge it up now I've been reminded of it!

Looks like Steve Hilton might have been telling lies.

durhamjen Tue 31-May-16 00:33:40

Why is it that people only remember the free movement of goods or the single market?
Right from the start it was goods, services, capital and people. That's what we signed into.

daphnedill Tue 31-May-16 00:47:04

Well, how amazing! Steve Hilton telling lies! I wouldn't trust the man to take my mother across the road.

Anya Tue 31-May-16 07:09:45

What an emotive load of twaddle "I wouldn't trust the man to take my mother accross the road".

I tried to read that link, but my iPad kept rejecting it. However I did rad enough to note that some ex-minister had 'rejected' his suggestion. That is a long way from suggesting that someone was lying.

The level of debate on this thread, from some, is about as poor as the level of debate in general on this referendum. In fact both sides, Johnson & Cameron, ought to be ashamed of the whole campaign. And not just from the Tory side. Shameful, infantile, misleading, purile and plain dishonest.

Anya Tue 31-May-16 07:18:18

And doubtless my post will bring the usual vitriolic responses from those who cannot bear to have their views criticised but fire away. It's only on online forum, it's not real life and if it make you happy to vent your spleen go ahead.
