You didn't think I would ignore this did you?

Ana Tue 07-Jun-16 22:20:44

And although you've toned down your sarky personal comments recently, dj, you've certainly 'upset' a good many people in the past.

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 22:20:48

* djen* I will not be doing any reporting, we have more than enough of that at the moment, but yes, you are being personal and unpleasant as it happens. It does not cast you in a very good light.

Anniebach Tue 07-Jun-16 22:21:03

Whilst you are waiting for replies Rosesarered, may I ask you the same question? Or rather I should ask do you really believe you have never upset anyone?

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 22:23:30

It seems to me, that as the Leave vote increases ( in the polls) so the attacks on here get worse.

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 22:25:18

You have certainly done YOUR fair share of upsetting people Annie....... How did I know you would be poppoing up on here shortly with a comment?

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 22:26:13

God help the forum if we do leave the EU.

Ana Tue 07-Jun-16 22:30:18

It'll be the same whatever the outcome, roses - the post mortems, the recriminations, the blaming everyone but themselves...

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 22:31:24

Although of course, it would be nice if we did.smile

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 22:33:00

Yes, Ana I agree, and will be visiting Gransnet only for the nicer threads for a year or two , because it is becoming too boring for words.

Welshwife Tue 07-Jun-16 22:35:27

This is a debate - by the very nature people will have differing views. To make it so personal is unnecessary - there are a couple of posters on the Brexit side who do not answer direct questions and just get rude. You do yourself nor your cause any good Roses by just being rude to everyone.

Alea Tue 07-Jun-16 22:39:54

Come off come off it welshwife there are rude, brusque, patronising and snippy posters on both sides of the debate as some of the posts not that long before yours illustrate only too well. I won't name names but read back and draw your own conclusions.

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 22:45:24

I will take this up with you Welsh ..... And would have a bit more respect for your views if you had not been on the Remain side, and therefore just throwing in your lot with posters who agree with you. a lot of people have been upset by all the reporting/ deletions going on with the forum, and a clique who have no sense of humour and see the world only in black and white, who hate anyone who disagrees and use bombast and mockery. This has been the response from the Remain side.It is used to close down any debate that doesn't accord with their world view.
To then claim they are 'upset' well, I think the saying is it takes the biscuit.
Djen then goes ahead with a personal attack, but this is all right you see, because she is on the Remain side.Yeah right.

Gracesgran Tue 07-Jun-16 22:48:01

"I certainly haven't upset anyone or caused a fuss over nothing if that's what you mean"

You certainly have a poor memory then roses You have upset me on many an occasion.

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 22:53:44

But of course, you have never upset anyone...

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 23:01:21

I'm left wondering if the mission isn't to drive as many posters off the threads ( the serious threads, where only serious people may comment).
I'm damned if will lay out all my arguements to leave the EU because there is NO point any more.Everything has already been said many times and in differing ways.
I certainly don't have MY reporting finger permanently on standby.

daphnedill Tue 07-Jun-16 23:03:04

Goodness me! It isn't true that you haven't upset people, roses. This really is playground stuff: he hit me first/no she did/but he called me a name/she called me a name first, etc etc.

When I joined Gransnet, I naively thought people might be beyond playground squabbling.

durhamjen Tue 07-Jun-16 23:06:06

www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/07/eu-referendum-fact-check-david-cameron-leave-campaign-claims

This is interesting. Six claims fact checked and Cameron is right on each one. Unfortunately brexiters will not believe it.

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 23:06:33

So, is that a while back the reason you sent me an unpleasant PM then, because you are beyond playground squabbling? hmm?
naturally, you agree with the people who always agree with you.

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 23:07:15

That was to dd not djen

Gracesgran Tue 07-Jun-16 23:11:02

I imagine I have roses although I try to stick to the subject and not be personal. Even that seems to upset some.

In such a heated arena I doubt that very few who are regularly on the political threads haven't trodden on someone's toes at some point. My issue with you would be your blindness to there being any problem with those you consider to be in the same group to you

I would say it is the exact opposite, the posters who want to leave the EU dished out no insults at all

It is almost tribal. We are all citizens of the UK and this is important to all of us. You show, in your comments to Welshwife that you belittle those with a different view to yours

... And would have a bit more respect for your views if you had not been on the Remain side ...

And you don't think you have ever upset anyone?

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 23:13:12

if anyone wonders why the bulk of posters won't post on a lot of threads, this is a prime example, a few posters who agree with each other in all things political ( and even some things that aren't party politics, like the EU) get together for a mass bullying of a poster who they know does not agree with them.Luckily for me, I have a thick skin and more than enough going on in RL not to bother about them.

durhamjen Tue 07-Jun-16 23:13:38

fullfact.org/europe/explaining-eu-deal-deporting-eu-immigrants/

For those who have voted to leave, Cameron's deal made it easier to deport immigrants. You may have shot yourselves in the foot.
Brexit means no deal.

durhamjen Tue 07-Jun-16 23:15:03

I presume you are going to leave the thread, then, roses, to those who take it seriously.

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 23:16:42

'A lot more respect for your views if you had not been on the Remain side,' means obviously that it was yet another poster jumping in with their boots on.

Welshwife Tue 07-Jun-16 23:17:07

Do you only have respect for those with your views roses ? If so that is a tad small minded - the opinion of the person should have no bearing on respect. It is not a question of 'throwing my lot in' with anyone - I can only give my views which are ones I have had for a long time. I am sorry you do not agree but I am not going to suddenly agree with the leavers - unless of course you can convince me with a couple of good reasons to leave - but they do seem a bit thin on the ground.
