You didn't think I would ignore this did you?

durhamjen Mon 13-Jun-16 21:34:25

Jalima, the government wants to get rid of the human rights law, and to cut the numbers of immigrants by 200,000. That will include many from the Commonwealth countries as well as those from the EU.
Jacob Rees-Mogg's problems will not disappear. We had over 170,000 immigrants from outside the EU last year.
Brexiters are telling lies if they are persuading you that the number of migrants will be less than 100,000 if we leave the EU.

No-one has told me that, and I would not be persuaded either way by that argument about numbers, not sure why you think I would be.

durhamjen Mon 13-Jun-16 21:52:58

Really? Are Gove, Johnson and Patel not Brexiters?
I hope you do not believe it, realise they are telling lies and vote accordingly.

"Brexit would pave the way for an immigration revolution to slash numbers arriving from the EU, leading Out campaigners pledge today.

Boris Johnson, Michael Gove and Priti Patel say they will insist on a tough Australian-style points system to finally meet the Tory pledge to cut net immigration to below 100,000.

In a statement they attack David Cameron’s dismal record on the issue, warning that Britain’s EU membership means we ‘don’t have control’ over who comes here."

Daily Mail, this month.
You may not have read it, but lots of Brexiters have and believe it.

Ana Mon 13-Jun-16 22:15:46

You seem to be obsessed with people 'telling lies' durhamjen. It sounds very childish. And of course, no one in the Remain camp ever lies, do they...?

Jalima Mon 13-Jun-16 23:22:28

When have I ever said I am a Brexiter confused ?

Jalima Mon 13-Jun-16 23:23:47

Well, I never put you down as a Daily Mail reader, durhamjen shock

harrigran Mon 13-Jun-16 23:51:15

This thread is mild compared to some forums, I have been wished an early demise tonight and pity it wasn't before I voted shock

Anya Tue 14-Jun-16 08:10:32

The REMAIN camp are getting increasingly hysterical.

It is a fact that we have no control over who comes 'here' from the EU. I don't know or care what the DM writes on the subject but that is a fact

I'll ask DJ this question, which I know from past exoerience she won't answer

Do you deny this is a fact?

whitewave Tue 14-Jun-16 08:23:06

Why doesn't Patel sound her ending Gs -grrrr!

English thugs shouting in France "Fuck off Europe, we're voting out" Dear God - to think that the result might be dependent on this sort of attitude!

Tegan Tue 14-Jun-16 08:55:31

'And there was a major row after a pro-Brexit campaign released a post on social media drawing links between the killing of at least 49 people in a US nightclub and the EU referendum debate .

The post, on the official Twitter account of the Leave.EU campaign, was denounced as "shameful" by Cabinet minister Nicky Morgan and "cowardly" by shadow foreign secretary Hilary Benn.'
..this is from an article in the Telegraph about the incident which so appalled me yesterday.

Link did not appear Tegan

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 14-Jun-16 08:59:36

Worrying innit whitewave?!

Gracesgran Tue 14-Jun-16 09:01:21

So you think that your personal view of "control" will be implemented by the government in power Anya. You personally will still have no control except a vote once every five years and it may not go the way you want but a government will have control and the results could be far from what you are looking for.

PP is just plain stupid Whitewave - a women of very little brain who can only spout the party line beit the Conservatives or Leave. If we leave are the leavers going to force an election and are they going to put up a "leave" party. On what basis are they promising everyone will get what they are getting now but there will be more for others like the NHS. The government will decide not "leave".

Tegan Tue 14-Jun-16 09:01:29

I know Jess [my links never work]; that's why I thought I'd copy the quote from the telegraph which referred to it.

whitewave Tue 14-Jun-16 09:21:55

Patel and cohorts will almost certainly force a leadership election.

I worry what will have been unleashed by Farage's xenophobic propaganda based on so many myths.

I worry for UK unity

So much of the Leave campaign is built on myth.

Ceesnan Tue 14-Jun-16 09:38:34

While the Remain camp seem to be concentrating on barely concealed threats - nice angry

varian Tue 14-Jun-16 09:51:49

Does this link work Tegan?

www.libdemvoice.org/tim-farron-attacks-farage-poster-overorlando-atrocity-50930.html

Tegan Tue 14-Jun-16 09:57:01

Thanks varian; I don't know what it is with me and links sad. I just feel that 'Remain' are concentrating on jobs and the economy and 'Leave' are going full out on immigration. I don't understand why warnings about the economy and jobs are scaremongering, as it seems common sense to me to realise that there will be problems in that area.

whitewave Tue 14-Jun-16 09:58:37

How can what the remain camp be interpreted as threats?

To suggest that is to imply that those talking about the economic downturn, loss of jobs, etc. Is within their remit to threaten and cause those things! The only thing that can cause these things for sure is if we leave. Which unfortunately is looking more likely.

Heaven's I can foresee a deal of trouble ahead. (But while there's music and love and romance tra la?)

obieone Tue 14-Jun-16 10:06:52

And problems with GP appointments, hospital beds, school places, council services, with an uncontrolled influx of people.
Housing problems, the list goes on.

whitewave Tue 14-Jun-16 10:12:29

No obieon e those problems are a result of this government's economic policy.
Another myth that scapegoats "another" in this case the immigrants who are contributing towards your pension, NHS, our security etc.

Welshwife Tue 14-Jun-16 10:22:03

When I was still half asleep this morning I heard on the Today programme that something like 10% of the NHS doctors are from the EU and quite a lot if nurses. Once the migrants go there will be spare beds for the OAPs returning from the EU because they will no longer be able to afford to live there and unlikely to be able so sell their houses either so hopefully there will be plenty of empty social housing ones vacated by the migrants returning to the EU. - then these people can just pop into the still warm spaces.

obieone Tue 14-Jun-16 10:22:25

I am not talking about previous immigrants.
I am talking about the new influx now, and in the future.

The remain camp still try and muddy up the issue

Welshwife Tue 14-Jun-16 10:27:17

I was talking to an 'outer' last night and they do not believe that the migrants are contributing anything to the UK economy - and cannot believe I don't know they are all claiming for 'six kids' and sending the money back to their home country. They also seem to think all the migrants are working illegally and do not have NI numbers etc etc!!! All they could keep quoting was migrants in shiny track suits walking in UK towns in the middle of the day so obviously not working.
I was told not to worry about all the expected job losses etc as the UK would have hundreds of millions of extra money to spend on things so no one would lose out.
