I think I'm going for 'Remain' but I'm still not definite.confused

Luckygirl Thu 23-Jun-16 10:23:55

I really do think that the suggestion that people who do not know which way to vote should vote remain is manipulative and pernicious. It is nonsense to vote for something you do not firmly believe is best.

MammaN Thu 23-Jun-16 10:27:32

Economists get it wrong all the time. e.g. They wanted us to have the Euro with dire results if we didn't. We didn't and the £ thrived.

GranVee Thu 23-Jun-16 10:29:14

Definitely in.

whitewave Thu 23-Jun-16 10:30:48

Landmark buildings all over Europe are bathed in the Union Flag to show solidarity.

luck its called persuasion.

Cagsy Thu 23-Jun-16 10:32:42

Postal voted to Remain a few weeks ago, as George Monbiot said I'm cynical about the EU and want to see some fundamental changes but I sure want to stay part of it

muswellblue Thu 23-Jun-16 10:34:12

I am going to vote remain for various reasons but mainly because the vast majority of younger people want it and why should we old gits deny them it. It's not our future.

Seasidenana Thu 23-Jun-16 10:35:41

Great Britain did not win World War Two on our own, it was won in partnership with our allies in other nations. I'm voting Remain as we never again want to see such human conflict on European soil.

POGS Thu 23-Jun-16 10:36:42

I swear if I read one more bloody post from a remain 'campaigner' TELLING PEOPLE they would be as thick as pig s--t to vote leave, ACCUSSING PEOPLE of being Little Englanders if they vote leave, , TELLING PEOPLE they are racist xenophobes if they vote leave I will vote !eave .

This is the last day and I for one say however you vote thank God you live in a country where the democratic rule of law has given you the opportunity to 'Have YOUR say'.

Christalbee Thu 23-Jun-16 10:38:13

Vote OUT!! We do not want the EU petty laws and regulations, stifling our small businesses and small farmers, fishermen who are trying to make an honest buck. The EU favours BIG BUSINESS, and people with economical vested interests and NOT the ordinary people. We need to vote OUT, it's the last chance we'll have for a long time to exit the gravy train that is Brussels. Full up with Ex Presidents, Prime Ministers and nameless Bureauocrats, which we did not vote for. We don't even know what their names are, or who they are, these people shaping our country and our future. For our Children and our grandchildren's sakes' vote Out. When we voted IN in the 70's it was for a trading block with our western european neighbours, consisting of 9 countries. We now have 29 countries and this will not stop any time soon. We are over crowded here in Britain and we do not need the EU to trade with. The FTA will allow us to trade more productively with other countries such as the US and China. VOTE OUT!!

Lilyflower Thu 23-Jun-16 10:39:42

Naked self interest says 'Remain' and principle says 'Leave'. My dear OH has voted but I asked him not to tell me which way he went. I know he feels exactly the same as I do. Heart, head and morality say it has to be to leave the immoral, corrupt and moribund federalising project while the prospect of retiring at the end of the year on a pension decimated by a 'Leave' vote is terrifying. My DD is definitely for 'Remain' and my DS for 'Leave'.

whitewave Thu 23-Jun-16 10:40:37

Blimey pogs there's cross.

LindaWW Thu 23-Jun-16 10:40:42

The whole of Europe seems to be in such a mess as does our Government. My sense is to throw it all up in the air and see where it lands. I'm voting leave.

Indinana Thu 23-Jun-16 10:41:02

You beat me to it Seasidenana. Defeated Hitler 'almost alone' indeed. What utter nonsense.

Marjgran Thu 23-Jun-16 10:42:01

Please please be wise - there is a casual fascism around - my elderly friends say it reminds them of the 30s - we need to stand strong with the wisest folk to work together to face climate change and the 65 million displaced people in the world. Bringing up the drawbridge will not protect us from these things only isolate us from the solutions and leave us at the mercy of bigger forces. I beg you to note remain. The only world leader who wants us to leave is ,Putin - oh and Trump

PRINTMISS Thu 23-Jun-16 10:43:48

Well, we have cast our vote now, whether it was the right one or not, I do not know, no-one will until all the furore is over and life settles down under whatever conditions people have decided is best. Thank goodness we were given the chance to voice our opinions, whatever they are, and the opportunity to vote.

misunderstood Thu 23-Jun-16 10:44:45

Be prouder and vote OUT

hildajenniJ Thu 23-Jun-16 10:47:20

I voted leave. Just because it would be better for my DSiL. The company he works for asked it's workforce to vote Leave, as this result would give them more contracts and better prospects than having to be tied to the EU. I'm sorry, I can't tell you who he works for.

whitewave Thu 23-Jun-16 10:47:25

Yes Mum has said often that the rhetoric reminds her of the 30s.

Be proud and decent vote REMAIN

Lilyflower Thu 23-Jun-16 10:48:22

POGS, I completely agree with you about the appalling level of abuse the in which Remain campaign has indulged. I note that on my (small) Facebook page every, single post about the referendum has been a Remain post and they have ranged from intemperate to abusive. I truly fear the level of invective that public debate has descended to. In fact it is not debate, it is a one-sided onslaught of abuse and nane calling from one side only. It happened in the last general election and I swear it was partly responsible for the result. Poke a dog in a cage long enough and it will eventually bite back.

Quiet, polite people do not like to be lectured, hectored, abused and called 'irrational', 'racist', 'bigoted', 'narrow minded', 'fascist', 'Little Englander' and all the rest of the completely unjust language employed. It was indefensible when Brendan Cox conflated the actions of a lone, unbalanced person with the genuine and evidenced concerns of ordinary people when ascribing blame for the horrible murder of his wife.

michellehargreaves Thu 23-Jun-16 10:50:17

I have been appalled at the horrible rudeness being expressed all over social media over this. People being castigated if they support leaving, people being castigated if they support remaining. We live in a democracy (at least I thought we did) and we are each entitled to our own opinion and vote. It seems that this referendum has shown people up in a horrible, judgemental and sneering light. It is why I won't reveal how I will vote. Tomorrow, whatever the result of the vote, I hope we will be able to accept the outcome as civilised grow up people and not as snarling bad lovers.

loopylou Thu 23-Jun-16 10:50:39

Out and proud to do so.
We're Merkel's puppet and the government is powerless with politicians ineffectual to make changes.

JessM Thu 23-Jun-16 10:52:14

The opinions Putin, Trump, Farage, Gove and Mr "I've suddenly changed my mind now there's a chance to be PM" Johnson.
vs
Stephen Hawkin, Francis O'Grady of the TUC, all the university chancellors in the UK, Christine Lagard, David Beckham and the Green Party.

If in any doubt - safer in.

michellehargreaves Thu 23-Jun-16 10:52:32

Not bad lovers...my post above, bad losers! ! Although perhaps the ins could call the outs "bad lovers"!?

mulberryruth Thu 23-Jun-16 10:55:14

Vote remain. We have had peace for the last 40 years in Europe because of the European Union. We have cleaner seas and beaches. We have improved maternity and paternity rights and improved working hours and conditions.Immigration is a global issue not a European one. Also something which has hardly been mentioned is about the amount of funding for medical and scientific research, as a group of countries we have access to so many more researchers, scientists and shared funding streams. I regard myself as global citizen and as time goes on the world will feel smaller and smaller. We need to be part of a big united whole not a tiny little island with a tiny little voice. The days of the colonies have gone, we only have finite resources, we need to share.

Anne2108 Thu 23-Jun-16 10:55:32

I find it hard to believe that some of you would rather be ruled by an unelected group of commissioners in Brussels, who so far have treated Britain pretty contemptuously, rather than a democratic parliament elected by the people. Surely we voted for a common market back in the seventies, not a federal state. Who has our best interests at heart, the Brussels elite or our British Parliament?
