Corbyn and No Confidence

MPs are proposing a vote of No Confidence in Corbyn, but we all know they didn't want him in the first place. Could it be that these MPs kept quiet during the run up to the referendum and are now just taking advantage of a situation they helped create? Is a leader only as strong as the generals that stand behind them?

Oh I do! I would love to rub Blair's face in the mud and so would a great many other people.

Anniebach Fri 01-Jul-16 20:02:06

There is not a thing he can do. He can have his few minutes at dispatch box and that's it. He cannot touch Blair and criticism from him will have no effect on Blair. If he is clinging on for a few minutes revenge I would like him thrown out not only of his leadership but of the party , to risk demolishing the party for his need for revenge is so wrong. Perhaps it's to get more votes too.

Do you see a difference between Blair lying to bomb Iraq, and Brexit lying to get us out of the EU?
Both dishonest politics; both should have to atone for what they have done.
I do not think he is doing it for revenge. That implies he is doing it for himself. I think he thinks he is doing it for all the people who feel deceived by Blair.

What ever his reason he should not do it from the position as leader who is ripping the party apart . Resign and give interviews to the press on go on TV, many of the labour MP's were not involved in Iraq , he will get more votes though

Belgium deserved to lose because of those silly hairstyles.
I will not tell my son and grandson I said that. They'd think me very shallow.

JessM Fri 01-Jul-16 21:54:38

Who would have believed! Well done Wales.

Iam64 Fri 01-Jul-16 21:54:55

Well done that team and their coach and their fans. Fantastic game and of course, wonderful singing of Land of my Fathers, never fails to thrill .

JessM Fri 01-Jul-16 21:55:13

Chris Coleman to lead the party. Any party.

durhamjen Fri 01-Jul-16 22:38:57

You don't want him leading the Tory party, do you, Jess?

durhamjen Fri 01-Jul-16 22:39:21

Wouldn't wish that on anyone.

This is interesting from the deputy leader of the SMPs.
Kezia Dugdale gave the impression that Corbyn had lost their support.

So Scotland's Labour Party is divided now ?

Anniebach Sat 02-Jul-16 08:30:11

Listening to Today, the chap who leads Momentum just been interviewed, seems he knows a large percentage of new members have joined to vote for Corbyn , one can on,y assume they are members of Momentum else would he know . Good one Corbyn, split the Scots and Welsh Labour Party , good work for a man who advocates peace

Anya Sat 02-Jul-16 08:41:31

How can Scotland be said to represent Labour or have a viable Labour Party anyway when they only have 1 Labour MP AB?

Anniebach Sat 02-Jul-16 08:44:42

There is a Labour Party in Scotland and I did not say Scotland represents labour I spoke of Scotlands Labour Party Anya

durhamjen Sat 02-Jul-16 08:49:26

Ukip only have one MP but they get a hell of a lot of media time and publicity, and say they represent millions of people.

Anniebach Sat 02-Jul-16 08:51:01

I think .corbyn should set up his own party, the momentum party, UKIP did it so why not momentum

Anniebach Sat 02-Jul-16 08:53:09

True Jen UKIP do have a lot of supporters and a leader who knows how to grab headlines

daphnedill Sat 02-Jul-16 09:09:17

Ukip is probably about to lose its only MP, but it won't shut them up.

Iam64 Sat 02-Jul-16 09:31:28

I loathe ukip but they do have a lot of support. I may be wrong but memory tells me ukip got 4million votes at the last election. There is no doubt their simplistic anti immigration statements influenced some Leave voters. I favour PR but we'd have to accept that ukip would be more represented under that system.

durhamjen Sat 02-Jul-16 09:34:27

Agree there, Annie, but if Corbyn set up his own party and all his followers left the Labour Party, what good would that do?

I assume, like me, you wouldn't agree to this?

theconversation.com/letter-to-david-cameron-split-your-party-and-start-a-new-one-to-save-britain-61893

The suggestion is that Cameron start a new centre party, along with Hilary Benn and Tristram Hunt, called the Democratic Centre Party.

durhamjen Sat 02-Jul-16 09:37:22

Why is Ukip doing so well in the North East? We have the smallest immigranrt population in the country.
The area with the largest immigrant population voted to remain, Newcastle.
Maybe the rest of the North East needs more immigrants, to show that we can live with them. There's a thought. Better do it before Article50 kicks in, though.

Anniebach Sat 02-Jul-16 09:44:02

Jen, do you remember labours wilderness years? I do. And the years it took to get back? It helped keep Thatcher In power . I Didn't know the chap who set up momentum was just as active during those wilderness years - coincidence perhaps or history yet again repeating itself ,
