I'm a bit of a lurker and don't post very often but it's raining and I am stuck in watching the news and fascinated (in a slightly scared way) about what sky news is calling the "Labour civil war"

Personally I would like to see Benn succeed. I think Corbyn has to go

Anniebach Wed 29-Jun-16 21:48:34

I wouldn't know Monuca, never met one, will have to take your word oon it, and this alone

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 29-Jun-16 22:03:11

Eugh! Angela Eagle. hmm

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 29-Jun-16 22:05:14

No charisma there. grin

Anniebach Wed 29-Jun-16 22:08:40

True, this not well dressed lesbian is lacking in charisma

POGS Wed 29-Jun-16 22:12:32

She was amusing when in opposition with William Hague, they both gave as good as they got but with humour in the mix.

I think it's her 'pitch' that grates.

Ana Wed 29-Jun-16 22:14:10

I do like her, she's witty and clever, but she wouldn't get the mainstream votes.

daphnedill Wed 29-Jun-16 22:18:52

How do you know that, Ana?

She was my late father's MP. She won her seat in 1992 against a long-standing Conservative MP. My father was horrified, especially when he found out she was a lesbian. After a couple of years, my father (a committed Conservative) grudgingly admitted she was good and nobody's fool. She also believes in what she says.

POGS Wed 29-Jun-16 22:26:31

Daphnedil

Look at Durhamjens post on one of the 'other' Corbyn threads re her chances.

I maintain she will need nerves of steel if she goes ahead, even Anniebach has called her brave for taking it on. shock

Anniebach Wed 29-Jun-16 22:27:18

She does Daphne , realy no different to Corbyn in having strong beliefs, difference is the party comes before self for her . The more MDonald gives interviews the more I wonder who is determined to lead the party, I could be so wrong but I do not trust him

Anniebach Wed 29-Jun-16 22:28:39

POGS,njust what do you by 'even Anniebach'?

POGS Wed 29-Jun-16 22:30:50

Thank you.

I have a firm belief McDonnell has used him from the start. He is like Nicollo Machiavelli , either him or a coward who pushes his best pal to the front of the line of fire.

daphnedill Wed 29-Jun-16 22:31:48

I think she does have nerves of steel.

mcem Wed 29-Jun-16 22:37:33

She may or may not be lacking in charisma but why does it matter that she's a lesbian? That sounds very dismissive!
Scottish tory leader Ruth Davidson has made an impression nationally -she's gay but doesn't seem to be dismissed because of her sexuality.
Kezia Dugdale is still leader of Scottish labour party 'despite' being a lesbian.
Is Scotland intrinsically more tolerant?

POGS Wed 29-Jun-16 22:38:44

Anniebach on the 'Who to replace Corbyn' thread I said she would need a tin hat and tin knickers .

Your reply was "I agree she will, this is why I think her brave".

I say even Anniebach because you are undoubtedly a poster who has made it well known at every opportunity you are a devout Labour member. You know exactly what I meant.

M0nica Wed 29-Jun-16 22:41:56

Anniebach Did you dismiss Angela Eagle as a not well dressed LESBIAN. Shame on you. Since when has someone's sexuality come into the issue.

I will not say anymore, I might say something I would later regret.

Anniebach Wed 29-Jun-16 22:48:28

POGS, if I knew what you meant I wouldn't have asked you what you meant. Yes I am a very strong Labour Party supporter , no idea what this has to do with thinking
Eagle brave. I may be strong labour but I have no problem in voicing what in my opinion is good or not in any action by the Labour Party or labour MP's . Always said if Blair and Brown had stood for leadership I would have voted for Brown , marched against the .iraq War ,for me it was wrong ,I didn't care who voted for or sgsinst it, for me it was wrong

mcem Wed 29-Jun-16 22:49:56

2 quick responses there anniebach so would you care to explain the significance of your 'lesbian' remark?

Anniebach Wed 29-Jun-16 22:51:48

Monica, I doubt very much you will ever regret anything you say , to regret what one says is because one admits one wax in the wrong, mistaken or had caused hurt,

Yes I said a not well dressed lesbian , does this bother me? No, will it bother the closest homophobic voters in this country? Yes

POGS Wed 29-Jun-16 22:55:13

Good lord!

POGS Wed 29-Jun-16 22:57:22

Anniebach

Standing by a comment like that just what do you think a closet homophobic sounds like shock

mcem Wed 29-Jun-16 23:01:04

It will also bother the parents of hard-working, well-respected women who happen to be lesbians.
Despite the criticism your posts often attract, I've always thought you've stuck to your principles and argued your case with passion and conviction.
You have disappointed me with this attitude.
I think you should acknoeledge that your remark was inappropriate.

mcem Wed 29-Jun-16 23:02:33

Acknowledge (please!)

durhamjen Wed 29-Jun-16 23:02:57

POGS, you had written four posts before Monica queried what Annie had written. If you were so offended by it, why did you not say something then? Or did you not realise?

Anniebach Wed 29-Jun-16 23:03:38

The ones who condemn the church for accepting gays , who are not honest and say I think it wrong - untill behind closed doors .

mcem Wed 29-Jun-16 23:10:42

Sorry annie I do not understand your last post and don't see how it addresses my concern. Are you simpĺy anti-gay? Could you please clarify?
