Theresa May

Sorry to start another thread but I think she deserves one of her own!

Just to say that I think she's getting an easy ride - being seen as the safe, solid candidate. Mrs M has been just as politically devious as the rest of them.

All this loads of women, Clinton, Merkel, Sturgeon, May, won't it be wonderful, is rubbish.

She was for Remain but stayed under the radar, just to keep herself out of the fray then jump in as the candidate of reconciliation, experienced pair of hands, not brash or pushy, etc.

I'm not a Tory party member so my vote won't count!

She says she was a reluctant remainer. And the police seem to dislike her. That's all I know about her. More devious than she appears to be IMO.

Aren't ALL politicians?

rosesarered Fri 01-Jul-16 19:41:35

She would be the safe choice at the moment though.

whitewave Fri 01-Jul-16 19:46:56

Given the alternative that isn't very difficult

rosesarered Fri 01-Jul-16 20:01:24

Same as the Labour Party are facing then...... Who would be the right choice there, nobody seems to know.

suzied Fri 01-Jul-16 20:05:18

She's better than the others, though she did do those vans with Go Home on them and isn't much interested in human rights.

Deedaa Fri 01-Jul-16 20:30:02

She always reminds me of a Head Girl and I was never going to be one of those. But who else is there? Slime ball Gove or the bearded homophobe? And whatever was that tartan get up she was wearing yesterday? Anything is better than Mrs Thatcher's pussy cat bows, but I prefer the Angela Merkel "This is the uniform I wear for work" approach. I know clothes shouldn't matter, but they do give you clues about a person.

mumofmadboys Fri 01-Jul-16 20:39:00

Theresa May was involved in the Steven Lawrence case and Hillsborough investigations which is why the police are anti her I understand.S he would have my vote if I was a conservative I think.

Tegan Fri 01-Jul-16 20:43:30

I think it was more due to her cutting police numbers. Would her diabetes be a concern, given the hectic lifestyle she would have to live as PM?

mrshat Fri 01-Jul-16 20:47:09

I like her! blush

Atqui Fri 01-Jul-16 20:49:12

I think you are right Tegan: she has upset the police, and as you said on another thread Gove is no friend of teachers.

Atqui Fri 01-Jul-16 20:50:51

It's difficult not to be influenced by personalities .Gove comes across as such a creep.

mumofmadboys Fri 01-Jul-16 20:57:27

It would depend how well her type 1 diabetes is controlled. I understand she has recently lost quite a bit of weight.

Tegan Fri 01-Jul-16 21:02:48

She has overseen the loss of 19,000 police officers; that's why she's unpopular. I didn't want to raise the issue of her diabetes but, manageable as it can be it must be a concern if she is to take on such a stressful role.

jevive73 Fri 01-Jul-16 21:08:38

Please can we give her credit for proposing and getting passed the Modern Slavery Act 2015 whch is accepted as setting the standard for the world trying to stop modern day slavery.

I am not of any political party but would feel more confident with her at this time of turmoil than any of the others.

jevive73 Fri 01-Jul-16 21:09:49

Gove is also detested by prison offcers.

Tegan Fri 01-Jul-16 21:12:19

Does ANYBODY like him?

whitewave Fri 01-Jul-16 21:13:02

Mrs Gove?

Not according to this. grin

How was Msy involved in the Stephen Lawrence Case? And the Hilldborough investigation was opened by Andy Bernham and yhe Labour Party

Witzend Sat 02-Jul-16 16:40:28

She doesn't strike me as nearly as Head-Girl-ish as e.g. Harriet Harman.

I neither particularly liked nor disliked her before, but I think she'd be the best choice now.

grannylyn65 Sat 02-Jul-16 18:21:01

Where's jings?

MargaretX Sat 02-Jul-16 18:35:30

I know its not important but Angela Merkel wears beautiful necklaces. That is her weakness. Hubby is quite handsome and at the Wagner opera festival they look very smart - both of them.
He is a professor and refuses to be Mr Merkel and I wonder if Mr Mey will be able to do that.

rosesarered Sat 02-Jul-16 18:38:55

Mr May ... wear necklaces? In the UK we don't usually go in for that.grin
