Yes POGS, I called her a bitch and a cow , haven't changed my mind, politics are hard but as a mother who has supported her daughter through many miscarriages and twenty years of failed infertility treatments any woman who can crow over another woman's infertility is a cow.
As for MacDonald I have said - even when I supported Corbyn - he is a dangerous man and I think Corbyn if he has to be dependant on another to speak for him needs to find a new partner , MacDonald is poison

Could Labour 'split'. Tom Watson calls off talks.
(1001 Posts)It is being reported Labour Deputy Leader Tom Watson has called off 'talks's with the Unions/Len McCluskey over Jeremy Corbyns future and refusal to 'stand down'. He is being reported as saying 'There is no realistic prospect of reaching a compromise'
Obvious signs have been there , (noted from the beginning of Corbyn becoming leader for political anoraks) but is this perhaps a challenge that 'if' it does happen might just 'split' Labour into the Parliamentary Labour Party and another group finally calling themselves 'Momentum' as an official opposition party?
There have been a few voices suggesting a Labour Leadership challenge could happen on Monday 'maybe' they are correct.
Interesting to watch.
Neil Kinnock was a leader fighting to get labour out of the wilderness years , give me a leader who speaks out with passion to a sly fox like Corbyn , refuses to share a debate with Cameron yet sits with Hamas because he believes in talking
Amused at Eleothans criticism of Kinnock , obviously never attended a hustlings where Nye Bevan, Babara Castle or Tony Benn was speaking,
@eloethan
To be fair to Labour, they didn't envisage the kind of academy schools we now have, although of course they put in place the legislation to enable the Conservatives to go ahead with their plans.
The first academies were failing schools. Local authorities had done all they could (or sometimes not) and the National Curriculum was limiting what the schools could do. The heads were complaining that they knew what needed doing, but their hands were tied by legislation. Turning them into academies gave them the freedom to innovate with the curriculum and systems, which is what they had wanted. I can't remember how many there were, but not that many, and they were intended as an experiment. The academisation programme was never intended to be the monster it's become.
So Corbyn voted against holding yesterday's ballot in secret , stopped him finding out who his side kick MacDonald could threaten

Tearful NEC member telling of her disgust at Corbyn not supporting the call for a secret ballot which was put forward as a way of protecting his Labour colleagues.
Utterly shocking.
Also look at the picture of him in the link. Would you trust someone who looked like that? That cross. That intransigent. Yes, I know some hack has caught him unawares perhaps, but still.....
Agreed re the record of Blair years on education Eleothan. The academy idea was a classic tory idea cooked up by Andrew Adonis - in the main because there were so many school buildings in a dreadful state and in need of replacement. (A bit like PFI which has also left a legacy.) But it opened the door to the dreadful Gove and he walked right in.
Jalima agreed.
Actually, I didn't as far as I remember, I just said to anniebach that it wasn't the right word and used some others instead.
Johanna Baxter was just on Ch4 News, still visibly shaken by what happened. What the hell is going on
.
What's happened?

Thank you Tegan,
My computer is playing up so I'm having to abbreviate what I write wherever possible#maythrowthebloominth
Tegan,I just heard her on line, what is wrong with the bloody man
You are right POGS I agreed with dd when she said Andrea Leadsom was shallow and spiteful and her actions would tend to make me think that is correct.
I said:
To use the absence of children in a political campaign is quite nasty imo.
People may not want children for all kinds of reasons, and for those who would have liked them but were unable to have any, it must be quite distressing to have it used against you
And I stand by that statement.
And I questioned whether she was Manipulative, Unscrupulous or just Naive ?
Which is not name-calling.
However, let us hope we won't hear too much more about her.
Things have moved on.
Little wonder the NEC meeting took seven hours, what a vile man, I am so ashamed that I thought he was a good man. He hid his dark side so well , that poor woman and all the threats hanging over people
You might be interested in reading this article by Tom Owolade, ab. He's arguing that political parties should focus on winning elections and that Corbynistas, including the Corbyn himself, are driven by "revolutionary glamour" that achieves nothing that is helpful to society.
Received email ,the NEC has stopped all CLP and branch meetings until after the leadership election . This is so wrong , in the UK political party members are stopped from holding meetings because of threats , I have been told from a reliable source the threats are seriously frightening
So I asked a question (14.52) as to what those posters who believe Corbyn and McDonnell are displaying a 'kinder, friendlier politics think about ' YET ANOTHER ' of John McDonnell's bloody horrible comments? Does he have the stature to be the Chancellor of the Exchequer given his foul mouthed tirades and attacks on other MP's, it would appear not only in opposition but his own party too.
Surprised by seeing only 2 posters had commented on his behaviour, absolutely not. Why, because it appears to me the vitriol the likes McDonnell espouses is seen as a badge of honour in some quarters.
I will repeat again and again it is not the Parliamentary Labour Party that are 'the sh--s' as I heard someone say, it is the likes of Corbyn, McDonnell et al who are having a ball trying to get their style of politics 'back' on the agenda in the Labour Party. One that failed miserably in the 80's. Kinnock taking a verbal bashing doesn't surprise me as he has never been forgiven for 'taking on', purging the likes of Derek Hatton on and Militant has he. Now that ilk are back.
I find it ironic that I see and hear so many people who got on the band wagon of stating ' We must have a more friendly, respectful type of politics' when the much respected MP Jo Cox was murdered. Yet it seems the very same people are utterly incapable of keeping so much as a civil tongue in their head, let alone enact what they said we must all do by doing the exact opposite .
I have said from day one of Corbyn taking the Leadership and the inception of Momentum there will be a nastiness take over the Labour Party and in my opinion worse is possibly to come. The Hustings will be taking place and I think they will get pretty lively at times.
The nastiness is not a new concept, some Labour MP's have been reporting bullying for months and it came to a head firstly with the vote of no confidence and then the Leadership challenge. How on earth can Corbyn say he wants to 'UNITE' the party when the Shadow Chancellor and Union Leaders are intent on saying one thing but obviously doing the other.

A good link.
POGS., he shouldn't be a MP. I am glad you mentioned what Kinnock endured. I defended Corbyn against you, I was so wrong. I am devastating by all this and Eleothan, I don't care a fig ok - it is my party,
Margaret Hodge said last weekend end she thought Corbyn was a decent man but now she knows he is a devious man , now I fully understand why she said this
Anniebach
This will not be appreciated in some quarters but 'Respect'.
Once again, respect for your honesty AB
